If the Spurs defender had headed the ball into his own net rather than hitting the post would the goal have counted? As the cross came in two United players were offside. The defender headed the ball because he had an opponent (who was offside) behind him. Is that enough for the goal to be ruled out because of the offside player interfering? I guess this is a bit rhetorical as the answer is probably "who knows what VAR would have decided in that situation".

It would have to be a goal, asthis happened last season, or season before. Salah was offside, behind defender. Defender headed it, but it fell to Salah. He scored, goal stood

Now I don‘t bother watching much EPL…but prep’ing dinner I have ManU vs Spurs on. And two thoughts,

1) The commentators mannerisms and delivery really irritate - always have done. I don’t really know what it is.
2) Loving the polite applause of (very) many in the crowd that welcomes a ManU goal.

Anyway…that’s a 2nd for Spurs and our commentator seems to be wetting himself about the scorer a bit less than he did to Utds scorers in the 1st half. Maybe that’s what irritates.

Will someone please tell Onana he is allowed to leave his line when Spurs are taking a corner. The least commanding goalkeeper I think I have ever seen.

See they definitely need to sort out the AFCON situation, we were allowed kudos because our game (in the same round of fixtures) fell after 1st January, Salah was allowed for Liverpool just 24 hours before because that's within the rules. Fine

But then onana is allowed permission to play when the tournament is already underway?? Yet spurs can't get permission for bissoma to appear in the same game? That's just madness

I’d rather he’d gone.

But to answer the question I believe it has something to do with the fact that, when United signed him, Onana was no longer an international player, having retired. My assumption has to be that his national FA agreed to him joining up late when he agreed to come out of retirement.

I believe you are correct. Cameroon permitted it.

Thats exactly it. He had retired from interanational footy when he signed for Utd

The rules are known by all clubs - and the countries have the ability to apply them to the letter or allow some flexibility- each club have big squads to cope

It's so obvious now that every team will be putting corners inside the 6yd box. Why wouldn't you?

He’s exceptionally weak when it comes to commanding his area. I’ve said here previously this is perhaps the biggest failing in Onana’s recruitment.

Notwithstanding the fact ETH has actually worked with the player, those responsible for scouting him must surely have had this part of his game down as a weakness, which in this league is a massive problem.
