It was good to see him come back out and applaud the fans before they were let out of the stadium though.

Course he’s missed. He’s a quality player and 10 times the player of the likes of Oscar Bobb etc.
Re last night…..he’s 21, had his first absolute shocker (Hojlund-esq) and probably couldn’t face the fans. Sure, it was a mistake to walk off but it’s easy to make these at 21. A senior player should have stepped in and had a word in his ear. Tell him he’ll score a hat trick in the next leg etc etc and to go and acknowledge the fans.

In fairness, Palmer has probably done a similar journey, won't get home until late and he spent 90 minutes running about
At any rate, if I was an away fan and my team lost after a poor performance, I'm not sure having players come and clap towards me and the fans is going to do much good. I'd be annoyed and frustrated, as would the players. Personally, I'd rather all the players from my team stormed back to dressing room angry, tore each other apart in dressing room and then by time the next match came along, be more prepared to get the win.

What about all the other games where he has been Chelsea clear stand out player to the point he is playing himself into the England squad for the Euros ?
Is it because Palmer had the temerity to leave City because he felt he could be playing week in week out - he is prob been more consistent than Doku , could have saved City £50mil

Seriously? Palmer has 8 Premier League goals in 16 games so far. (only 12 starts). 4 assists as well. That's a phenomenal record for a young winger. Better return than Saka has in a vastly better Arsenal team.
Edit: As Phil rightly alludes to, it's a better return than Doku has at City as well(who everyone has raved about), let alone Bobb, who can't get on the pitch.

From the outside looking in, Cole Palmer looks good. He looked decent when I saw him play for City, and he's obviously had some good moments in his early days at Chelsea.
However, not being a Chelsea or City fan, I don't overly analyse pretty much everything he does, so the highlights may just stick in my mind. Many would praise Rashford when he was scoring all those goals last season, and even when they started to dry up. Many still talk positively about McTomminay as he has scored goals in a few games for Man Utd and many still talk about the quality of Bruno Fernandes as you'll often see him play a key pass in the highlights of a Man Utd game. But, watching from a critical point of view as a fan, the many many shortcomings of these players keep getting noticed.
So, for Palmer, is he as good as the stats suggest? Despite his good moments, does he also have to share some of the responsibility for a really poorly performing Chelsea side? Why was Pep happy to let him go?

Is part of this that City can afford to let him go, all they do is just buy a replacement. The list of players that Pep wouldn't sell is probably quite small.

City let him go because he obviously wanted to be starting games, not getting 10 minutes off the bench, which I think is a good decision on his part.

Palmer going is perfect for FFP a player going through academy etc is £50mil in the positive , it’s full on profit and they can just then spend money on bringing someone in
A lot of the reasons why clubs are hoovering up talent at home and also abroad is to help balance those books , Chelsea made a fortune bringing academy players in and selling them , Man City have took it to the next level

True, they can afford to let him go. But what I mean is, if he really was a special player who could perform at a high level for a top club for years to come, then I'm sure he'd keep him. I wonder if he ever considered selling Foden?
Getting a big transfer fee for him is great for FPP. But it is only great if you can use that extra money to bring in even more talented players. It would be absolutely useless if you sold your top young players for 100% profit, only to use that money to bring in someone like Antony.

I think City are doing alright to be fair. Doku looks decent enough and I doubt they are crying themselves to sleep over Palmer.
The bits I've seen of Palmer is that he is classically modern day City. Wonderful touch, classy ball player. That is what he is doing at Chelsea. Slipping balls though, keeping the ball moving, throwing in the odd goal. The latter is a bonus, he is a ball playing midfielder. City have a surplus of those, hence why he was let go. Most other teams in the league would grab him, he is a quality player. Only 21 as well!

When they signed him it felt like they were stockpiling wingers a bit, but he's easily surpassed Mudryk, Madueke, and Chukwuemeka in no time at all.
Is he a winger? He is not the traditional, beat a player, get the ball across type of guy. I thought he was a central midfielder, a bit like Maddison for you guys?
