The Footie Thread

What a curious post to add to a football related thread in the hours after a game involving a particular club. Liverpool are discussed after Liverpool games, West Ham after their games and so on.

I didn’t realise there was an embargo on discussing Manchester United just because they used to be half decent, and are now anything but.
TBH, a certain few insist on talking about Liverpool and they aren't fans;)

Watching the game last night, I thought about which players on the pitch I would want in my team and then which a top 6 club would want. I realised quite quickly that none were from utd 😳. When you consider the sums spent, that's quite a situation.

Now I appreciate that some of the better players are currently injured but even so..........

(Bear in mind that my team got spanked yesterday as well 😂)

Utd are in 7th with those players, and Everton are in 17th. You wouldn’t want players who’d take you up to 7th? Unbelievable Jeff 🤣

Don't forget the 10 points that were taken from us. That leaves us behind utd still, but not by much.

Go on then, who would I want from last night? I'd normally say Wan Bissaka but did you see him jogging back at times last night 😳. Fernandes is all over the shop, excellent at times, a liability at others. None of the others, none.

Incidentally, I'd take Elanga and Gibbs White from Forest 😉

Is this a footie thread or a Manchester United thread? Get over yourselves. Football is cyclic and teams come and go. Man U are a great club, but just because they had fantastic success with Fergie for 20 years does not mean that they have the right to win every match they ever play, for evermore . When Man City lose Pep as manager I’m sure that they will go the same way. It will be interesting to see which team replaces them as top dog.
Am sure they won't.
But re Utd. Quite simply they are rammel.
There are players in that team that are not Sutton Utd standard never mind Man Utd. They have world class players that look bang average.
Watching Utd, they cannot even press.
That was a painful watch yesterday for the Utd fans.

I might be biased, but you’d be silly not to take Murillo at CB as well. That kid is going places. We will sell him for £85m+ this summer or next.

Id take rashford personally, I think the fact he can play lw or st would be ideal

I'd take the young central midfielder aswell

That's it tho

Who you’d want is entirely your choice. I would have taken Garnacho and Rashford from last night’s performance. They got scraps from a midfield that was virtually non-existent. Utd by-passed their (non-existent) midfield far too often with balls hoofed up for Garnacho and Rashford to chase forlornly.

Two of Forest’s goals were scored from players arriving late into the box with no sign of a midfielder tracking back with them. Wan-Bissaka had a half decent game, especially as the right centre back Varane(?) was nowhere to be seen most of the night. Wan-Bissaka was worn out trying to cover two players, and Forest intelligently played around him making him look like he was chasing shadows when it was his CB partner that was at fault.

Where was Eriksen? Normally I’d say yes to having him but he was another one whose contribution was poor.

I think a measure of how far Utd have fallen is to look at their bench week after week. It’s full of players that wouldn’t make most Prem teams.

Forest belied their position in the division last night. An excellent performance, making Utd look very poor.

I wouldn't take Rashford, this seasons version, over McNeil. McNeil does a great job for us. He is up and down, helping the LB, and is quick to whip a cross in whenever he gets a chance. No checking back, no having to beat 3 players. Dyche has given him orders, he follows them.

Rashford can be excellent but not this season and I don't want a half hearted player near my team, and neither would Dyche.

For clarity, if fit I'd take Shaw, Martinez, Casemiro and Mount (although not their wages 😂)

A fit Shaw isnt a thing anymore unfortunately

I'd still take rashford @Dando , yes yesterday he was poor but players can suit systems and teams . I think he would be class for us .. I mean take Craig Dawson, awful for Watford. Fit nicely into our system and looked perfect for us. Working with Bowen and kudus then being fed by paquata.. that would be a good fit

On current form I don’t know how Rashford would get into Englands squad.
Watkins is the man to partner Kane.
