I just feel so unbelievably sorry for Dele Alli.
He's now taken the first step on the road to recovery, I really hope he reaches the end.

The bit that gripped my poo, is when Alli decided to come out with this story because a newspaper had got wind of him being in a rehab clinic in America.🤬 poor sod, I honestly don’t know where to start.

You are ridiculously defensive about Henderson. If Henderson, Maguire, Phillips or players like that, went to Saudi Arabia, then it would finally end their England chances. Southgate isn't going to care how they play against their opposition in such a poor league.

If those players played in the PL, then they are still in the reckoning for England. As has been the case up to now.

If Kane or Bellingham went to Saudi Arabia, then they'd still probably be in the reckoning for England, even if it doesn't help their cause. This is because Kane and Bellingham are a million times more important to England than Henderson.

It really is that simple

I can't believe you honestly think Hendo should be anywhere near the England team while slumming it in Arabia so you must be trolling at this point. The Championship is a higher level and there are plenty of English players there. The point is not whether he is or isn't good enough - 1. He obviously thinks he's no longer good enough to play at the highest level or he wouldn't be going there. 2. Even if he was good enough, you wouldn't be able to tell for sure because he'd be playing against fourth rate players. You need to be playing in a high level of competition to prove that you're good enough to be picked.

And this is all hypothetical as he hasn't even moved yet, I don't think.

Let’s just clarify a few things

1. Not sure why you are dribble out the “trolling” remarks - it’s poor form and adds nothing.

2. I don’t recall stating that I believe Henderson should be in the England team if he moves to Saudi - as I stated “if Southgate believes he still can do a job then he will pick him” - and that’s valid for any player whatever league they play in or how much football they are playing.

3. This is what you said

“Southgate won't even be watching let alone picking him. He picks players who play in top leagues like Germany or Spain but not a league where every team has one or two marquee players and the rest of them are non-league standard”

Hence why I asked would the same be valid for Kane if he moved there - he wouldn’t be in the top league and he wouldn’t be watching Kane or indeed anyone who goes there as you stated


But the simple point is - Southgate has shown quite clearly he is his own man and is more than comfortable picking players who many wouldn’t go near and he wouldn’t discount someone just because they went to the Saudi - regardless of who it is.

Kane is a generational talent, why are you still comparing him with Henderson who nothing more than a decent water-carrier in a time when we had no good midfielders? 😂 If Kane for some reason went to Saudi it would be a completely different kettle of fish, because he's world class and at his peak. Henderson is neither, so in his case, it'll be out of sight out of mind.

You still haven't understood the point anyway. I'm not saying he'd refuse to watch him in Saudi out of some moral standpoint. Just that it would be pointless watching him potter about against Comference-level players because it would be impossible to tell if he was still decent or not so you couldn't pick him on that basis.

Pretty sure everyone else in the thread understands this except you so we might as well call it a night there I think.

If you’re talking about Kane going to Saudi wouldn’t he be playing against “conference level” players as well or is that ok?
 
I can't help seeing a certain amount of irony from those opposing the Saudi's buying players, when the rest of Europe felt the same when Sky brought it's millions to Division 1 and deposed Serie A as the main Euro league with it's buying power.
Lets be clear, it may not be palatable to us, but neither are some of the rediculous sums being paid weekly to players in the PL.
The Saudi league will happen and will take over, they have the money to make it happen.

As I have said before. The premier league doesn’t behead people. The premier league isn’t a state owned brand designed purely to sportswash over the human rights atrocities committed by the government it is owned by.

Talking about the money only without where it comes from means they are getting what they want. Looking at the frankly obscene amounts they are going to spend on Henderson without talking about what the Saudi government does to those LGBTQ+ persons Hendo has spoken out in support of so many times in recent years is irresponsible.

That’s why it’s different. It is state propaganda.

it’s no different to the Chinese Super League or MLS etc

It will be a league in its own rights but won’t touch the CL or any of the top European league
