Yeah that saga was all a bit weird, never really thought he was playing badly but as you say - his own high standards are insane.

He's got his head down, don't the work and now back in fine form - in perfect time for your end of season push too.

He seemed one of the players with a World Cup hangover and wasn't alone. He's shaken that off and is playing with such intensity that, coupled with his ability, it's just a joy to watch.

Do you think Haaland has played a part in his form.
City played with no CF as such ,but he can now play forward with pace as he just seems to know Haalands there.

I have said to Tashy there seems a lovely bromance and long may it continue! I think it's taken a while for them to really gel and to see Kevin go past Erling and he be the provider was something new (I think). Maybe he feeds of Erling's energy too as he suddenly looks more powerful striding forwards leaving players in his wake.

I felt after the WC he came back on a downer. His comments about his national team seemed to spill over and he showed frustration at City. We were playing poorly (relatively) but rather than drag everyone up to his level he seemed to drop his. Good to have him back!

Open question boys and girls.
City with John Stones tucking into the middle of the park has been a massive impact on our turn around this year.
Klopp seems to of done the same with TAA at Liverpool. Now this is not a Liverpool copying City thread. And there’s a difference between city’s centre half doing that then dropping in and Liverpool’s right back who was brilliant at getting forward and delivering a ball. But my question is this.
Could Gareth Southgate incorporate this into his England setup where a defender steps up into midfield and becomes an extra man?

Me I find it exciting that this could happen with them both in the team but then I am thinking how the golden waistcoat loves a defensive team.

Thoughts please.

Can’t see Southgate doing it,but I do think it’s harder for international managers to experiment with new things as they don’t get the same time with the players.
It was blatantly obvious Trent needed to move up the pitch as he was a liability at the back, but the rest of his game is good.

Could he? Yes. Will he? No. Far too risky for a manager who thinks don't lose first. Oh and when you get ahead hang on and hope...

It depends how the opposition play.
Against Liverpool City kept Grealish and Marhrez on the touch lines.
so it would not work then.

could work with Stones for England as most teams don’t have a proper CF.
BUT !! That leaves Maguire on his own in the middle????

Just caught up with last nights football on MOTD. The Manchester City V Arsenal game looked like a fantastic game, Quality goals and play from City although I thought Dias was a very lucky boy to get away with just a yellow card with his awfully timed, deliberate kick out on Arsenals Ben White. I wasn’t surprised at the Notts Forest result, I thought Brighton would struggle after 120mins plus penalties at Wembley on Sunday. The mickeys seemed to have done well against West Ham, David Moyes reaction to the linesman over the handball and his post match press interview was awful. To call out the VAR as disrespectful for not sending the referee to monitor is ironic. I hope the FA deal with Moyes accordingly like they did with Silva and Klopp in recent months
The Brentford result at Chelsea wasn’t a real surprise they have been shocking all season. Azpilcuetas OG summed up Chelsea’s season. I can’t see Lampards reign at Chelsea helping his chances of a big job in future.

Onto tonight’s games, I think Spurs will react tonight after that performance against Newcastle and Man U might just be suffering from semi final hangover like Brighton. The fans at spurs need to get behind their team.
I can’t see Everton getting much change out of Newcastle thou time is running out for them and looking at the remaining home fixtures with Man City and Bournemouth left it doesn’t look good. A repeat performance of Southamptons game at Arsenal should be enough to beat Bournemouth.

Nearly 🤭
It’s right tho,got a player that can’t defend but is good at going forward, mmmm what should you do with him?
Just took a while for the penny to drop with old Klipperty 🤷‍♂️.
Yes been saying it for a long time.
he’s not a great defender.
I would get a RB and put him in front of the back four .
Wan Bissaka would do.

Can’t argue with your point re Moyes, watched it again today and it’s very similar to the Soucek handball against the plastics where a lot of people said handball but it wasn’t given. You win some you lose some 🤷
