Watched the first half of the Villa game.
jeez Mings had more of the ball than anyone.
45 mins of watching them pass around at the back.
good goal though.

Leeds game looks more of a tight game .

Just seen the Sam Johnstone challenge to give away the penalty in the Wolves game. Any outfield player would be seeing red for that challenge but somehow he's got away with a yellow. Shocking from the ref.

Englands best right back for me, I don’t buy into the hype of Reece James.

As an out and out defender Wan-Bissaka has few equals. He put in one tackle during the second half on Sunday, on the edge of his own area, when even coming in from the wrong side on his wrong leg he timed it to absolute perfection.

If he could add some forward play to his game, and he is way better than he was last season, then he would be the real deal.

I do think Ten Hag may still be in the market for a right back, but AWB’s re-emergence this season makes that less of a priority than it perhaps was.

Defensively he's no.1 for my money. Too many fullbacks now are expected to be right/left wingers AND defend. Its almost impossible for them not to get caught out. I want my fullbacks to be more Maldini/Cafu types. I do appreciate that the role of a modern day fullback has changed.

It's the same with most positions nowadays - goalkeepers can't just be good shot stoppers, they need to be able to play with their feet, defenders need to attack, attackers need to track back (unless it is Kane who is always being told on this forum to stay up front!). It must be difficult for some players to fulfil the role the club wants and also please the fans and armchair pundits
It is the same in other sports, look at the cricket debate about wicketkeeper batsmen - do you want a keeper who can catch the ball or score you loads of runs?

He really did! First half was so weird, Fulham just sat off us and didn't press at all.

Second half they did the polar opposite :ROFLMAO:

For a full back, then I'm sure it very much depends on the side you play for.

If you play for a team that has a lot of possession, being comfortable on the ball becomes more important. Counter attacking team, perhaps ability to fly down the wing and put in a cross. Whereas if you play for a weaker side who need to defend against a lot of attacks, defensive attributes are huge.

Wan Bissaka is probably ideal for many mid table or lower end table clubs, as he'd be in his element. It is hugely beneficial for Utd when up against a similar attacking threat, but we lose out in attack compared to what other full backs can do.

Mind you, even if he could put in a cross like Beckham, it is almost pointless, as we rarely have a player in a position to get on end of it.

It’s a tough one when positions develop

Wing backs became popular at one stage with three at the back and then the likes of TAA play like those anyway

For them to work you need two very strong CB’s and a very mobile DM

Until this season we had the cover and someone very mobile but the CB’s and DM are walking in cement at the moment so behind TAA and Robertson it’s exposed - when it does work though it’s very effective hence why many Liverpool wont pile on TAA and Robbo when they get caught because he is just doing his role

AWB is strong defensively- maybe he is more suited as a right side CB in a back three - he is still decent on the ball but doesn’t seem to have that same delivery as TAA , James etc

He has certainly done well to get back from where he was though

I couldn't work out what was the best result last night so I suspect a draw, Leicester v Leeds is probably exactly that.

Tonight, let's hope that Brighton don't have a semi final hangover. (this really is a horrible and desperate time of the season 😄 )
