I think you can add to that the fact that one or two of the players are starting to look their ages now, and they simply cannot play the sort of style of football which Klopp wants.

All of which does lead me to ask a question of Klopp. If the squad is a year older, and some of the regulars a little more leggy, why have those areas not been strengthened with new signings, or the style of play adapted to suit the players at his disposal?

Klopp is not entirely without blame.
Klopp dosnt have a plan B never has had one.
He has belief in his system but he hasn’t changed the style to fit the squad imo.
Playing the high defensive line with no pressure on the ball has cost us many games.
This season is just inconsistent but hopefully we will sort it next year.
But can we attract the big players to sort this out with no CL football. I hope so.

We’re trying to play the way we always have ,especially at the back .
But we just don’t have the players . They look burnt out And picking up injuries.

The midfield is average at best, how many would get a game at City, none imo.
No creativity and don’t protect the back four.

City had it spot on Grealish and Marhrez wide on the byline showed how narrow we are.
we needed to recruit a Replacement for Henderson but who knows what will happen if we fail to get top four

I thought getting shot of Wijnaldum was a bad move. 200-ish games in 4(?) seasons. Rarely injured and very consistent. Now 32yrs old but could have easily given ‘pool another 2 yrs. And what has it cost to bring in average players to try and replace him.

Replacing Mane was always going to be very difficult, if not impossible, but ‘pool haven’t come close to adequately filling his spot. Some good prospects IF they mature but also a gamble.

Players ageing, players injured without adequate squad replacements and players bang out of form - TAA being the prime example.

If Liverpool don’t having a stellar summer transfer window they’ll do a Utd and become a fringe top 6 for a few seasons. Here’s hoping they, and Utd, can get back to fighting City and Arsenal for top honours.

We suffered the 3rd year as well when we lost a lot through injury - Arsenal have managed to play the same core throughout the season thats given them a solid consistent continuity, next season with the added CL it’s going to add pressure on the squad , unless they bring in a load of quality mids and back line then it’s going to be tough to keep the same level going every season. Arsenal still need to get over the line this season

Dont disagree with any of that, still quarter of this season to go but we are way ahead of where we were expected to be this season. Just dont get the jump to us suffering next season because you have several years down the line. There are clearly plans to strengthen in the summer, whether that is enough to keep up with the Joneses is another matter though, but its no foregone conclusion we suffer either

The myth that weve had no injuries this season too is just that. Smith Rowe, Partey, Jesus, Tierney, Zinchenko all missed plenty of games, Tmoiyasu now out for the seaosn and Saliba bust too

If we need a load of quality mids and back line what do you need 🤣🤣🤣

You’re not wrong pal. People forget (quickly) that not only did he have to contest with being a newly promoted side (a difficult task in and of itself), he also had 30 new signings that the board gave him (many of which weren’t players he chose) and the worst injury record in the league (by some margin).

A sad day if this is the end. I’ll never forget the last 18 months, it’s been magical.

Watch him get snapped up by Leicester and keep them up. 😩😂

Going nowhere Jon, relax :)

I always forget about Wijnaldum. One of those under-the-radar players who are so much more important than you realise.

Big game at West Ham tonight. Will Moyes be safe even if they lose? Are the club committed to him now for the rest of the season, too late to do anything, or could they still change manager?

Didn’t have much choice with Gini

Didn’t want to sign new contract and wanted those big bucks PSG were going to pay

Surely we have a managerial logjam now. The bigger names are floating around Chelsea and maybe Spurs, the next level of names are not looking at other options until they see what vacancies may come about following the appointments at those 2 places, nobody wants a relegation on their CV or the championship next season and so that makes it even harder to appoint. Really cannot see some clubs filling their vacancy before the season is done and so, unless you are very confident n the back room staff or their is a serious problem, there just seems no point in sacking at the moment.

I think Luiz Diaz was a good replacement for Mane until he was injured we have missed him big time.
His work rate is our first line of defence.
