the burner is back

Don't worry Rooter has already won that competition:rofl:

Or Dufferman as he doesn't seem shy when it comes to winning competitions in all the golf mags. And I see he's also already laying down some ground work in this thread. Good work Dufferman sir, everyone else watch and learn how a pro does it, watch and learn....;)

Didnt realise a manufacturer had such power, it does make you question the validity of any equipment reviews if a supplier can snap fingers and a mere fuzzy picture of a golf club is removed:rolleyes:

Check out some of the stuff that comes out of mygolfspy. They will give you some idea of the power of the big 5 and how they control the written press, what questions are allowed to be asked and so on... its pretty shocking stuff. Most of the things you would like to trust are actually just mouth peaces for the big brands.

Like the look of the R15 in white and will give that a bash to see the difference in performance to the Sldr

Will look at the Burner range to upgrade my hybrid and fairway wood

Not a fan of the Burner graphics, but love the look of the R15 in the black head. Quite a few lovely drivers out at the minute that I would love in the bag. G30, 915, R15, Z545 (looks awesome in person), and the V-Series BB are all so nice looking.

I think this is true to some extent and some reviews are basically just rehashed press released with very little questioning, if any, of the manufacturers claims.

But on the flip side most people agree that as long as you have got a club that is roughly aimed at your competence level, i.e. not a blade set from 3 iron upwards for a 28 handicapper, then there is no such thing as a bad club nowadays as they all go basically the same distance. As most brands are on the limits of what they can do under the restrictions placed on them by the R&A etc. Which I suspect is where the recent shift to forgiveness is coming in as they realise that many more extra yards just ain't possible as lofts have been cranked as low as they can realistically go and shaft lengths increased as long as possible without making them sweet spot too hard to hit for the average golfer.

And genuine breakthroughs such as arguably the SLDR driver was, are rare.

Liking that ground work being laid for any future GM opportunities. Not just restricting it to TM but also bigging up lots of other manufacturers. Text book stuff....;)

Yep I agree, I think thats what they dont want you to know though (there all the same in a round about way)(we are not the target market as educated power forum types). However I am not sure the SLDR was a break through as such, its was more of a coming at it from a different direction. I think there are as many people who got more out of there own driver than the SLDR. Its a strange driver to use, I really did not get on with the deep face and its not forgiving and has low moi. Its a great idea and all that and I love that its a little outside the box but I think more people will get more out of the 915 and G30 this year... super high MOI. Titleist made such a great job of the channel they are using they actually had to thicken the face to make it conform.

Do we know if the Burner is forward CG like the the Jetspeed and SLDR? I am guessing not!?

Haha. I'm for sale to any golf manufacturer that wishes to let me have some of their equipment, and in return I will happily refer to myself as Sir TaylorMade/Callaway/Ping/Titleist/Srixon/Nike (delete as appropriate).

All you've done there is fall for Titliest's marketing guff as I am guessing you have a soft spot for Titliest.;)

I would argue that the SLDR was a genuine breakthrough in what you can actually do with drivers to conform, more so that the G30 and 915 which are not really doing anything different to what has been done before, but just doing it a bit better.

I do and probably have ... I am not sure weight forward is a breakthough but for sure its interesting and a fresh thinking. I am just not sure it a) works for everyone's launch conditions and b) am pretty sure its not the way to go for foreignness. Time will tell though as if everyone else does it its the next direction. If not then its just a n other direction as I suspect.

Just seen the pictures of the Burner. Over fussy and too blingy. I know you don't look at the bottom of the club at address but you still see it when you take the head cover off. Not for me.

I think the holy grail they are all looking for is a driver that can be used by say a 2 times masters champion but also is known as one of the most forgiving on the market for us happy hackers. I think once TM or nowadays Callaway do that they will hit pay dirt and you can be sure they will market the hell out if it.

cough Ping G30 cough
