The all things EV chat thread

There is some utter xxxxxxx written on this forum and this is up there with the best of it.

I’ve just ordered an EV and haven’t been required to ask permission from anyone or get any kind of qualifications.

Sound like the real reason you won’t go EV is you are scared that you might not understand the technology. I bet you struggle to understand WHS too.

That’s quite a valid comparison using WHS

Both are very much marmite 😂

My comments were tongue in cheek, but sadly, as per the EV mandate, you insult.

My tech knowledge is first class. My cars tech is top notch.

I won't go EV because they're ugly and not compatible with my lifestyle and I certainly don't want to be a stereotype, nor stop on my journey like a 90 year old with a weak bladder.

OK for you?

Edit: you have reinforced the stereotype in those two words when asked what your car is - Fully & Loaded - wow, so impressed lol.
I think you are looking for something that isn’t theremy friend. I’m certainly not insulted.

This will be my first EV. And I’m only getting it as on my company scheme I’m effectively being paid to drive it instead of running a private car.

As for looks. That’s always subjective, but to say they are ugly is more nonsense. Many are now pretty much indistinguishable from the ICE or hybrid equivalent.

It really is cheap to run

Just done 540 miles to Disney and back under £25 (France public charging is cheap) and I do 1000 miles per month for less than £20 a month

Really good value for me anyways.

Very relaxing to be in aswell I mean we spent 6 hours ISH yesterday with 3 kids. 6 cases and such and came out feeling refreshed rather than stiff

Was impressed how much could stuff in the car and have a comfortable drive to Paris and back

The touring plus is as nice inside as the premium German brands I’ve had and feels way better than a Tesla.

Have to admit since Elon entering politics I've gone off the idea of the Tesla brand full stop

My next car I'm looking at the Kia EV 5 , to replace the wife's Kona and then just have my niro as her car and the EV 5 as the family car

2 years down the line most likely

I was tempted by an EV9 but the ID7 works out quite a bit cheaper.

The interior and boot space in the ID7 is more than enough for what I need.

I don’t like Teslas regardless of Musk. The interiors feel cheap and the stories of build quality put me off.

Tesla was probably way ahead a few years ago but others have caught up while they were working on a vanity project, CyberTruck.

Then their advantage was the charging network, which they opened up while competition also developed, at least here in Europe.

It was the charging network for me, loved the idea of plug in and be billed to my card

However the trip to France to eye opening.. plug in at chargers. Select English as language on the machine. Click pay by rfrd card (or select start charge via an app) anyways it cost came off my octopus account which My solar has offset all the public charging I did lol

Definitely wouldn't think twice about driving to France again In EV

"Only getting it only because I'm being paid to drive it"

That's like marrying an ugly bird because her dad is loaded. I rest my case.

PS: I won't follow up on this brief conversation because (1) it's boring and (2) I am right, so no need to chat further :ROFLMAO:

This is the all things EV chat thread and my view is as valid as anyone else's, however, this topic is the most them and us on the planet.

All the dicks who own (finance) one rave on and there is no negatives, or alternative opinions allowed.

Sad.

Allowed just only valid ones not based on outdated information or frankly made up stuff

Crack on tho

As always - an EV isn’t for everyone and won’t be the right way forward for everyone

Still plenty of barriers in the way for EV ownership

Plenty of hurdles for it to be the go to car for the majority

It must be lovely to be able to afford £60/70k on a new car without financing it. Unless you one of those people who buy second hand and pretend you could afford new if you wanted to?

Financing depreciating assets makes a lot of financial sense if the interest rate is low, and even better if it’s 0%.

My new company car will be better than free motoring for the next 4 years. It’s a tool to load golf clubs into and get to work. What’s not to like?

Or I could shell out a load of money to burn petrol or diesel 💁

Ironically this thread shows the biggest hurdle to switch to EV. It's people's attitudes. All of the other bits yes some issues but for the majority of people they could make the switch. However outdated views / information form the barriers that stop the majority of people switching . Some people hate change. Pretty normal, some just like pay petrol companies .. their choice but majority of people who want to switch will find a way because it's really not that much different from owning an ice car.

I'm going to refer you to the weight loss thread.

All that is required to drop weight is a change of attitude.

That didn't work for you and neither do electric vehicles for me.

I didn't berate your choices in that topic and expect the same in return.

But an EV is no pie, chips and peas now is it

Our car salary sacrifice scheme was updated and its EV cars only

The take up on it was bare minimum so they are looking to add hybrids onto the scheme

That’s the car I’m looking at next - a hybrid ( non plug in )

Food isn't an addiction man. Jesus H. Pop back and I will agree when you're suffering bulima and we can chat again.

Anyway, it was a valid point and today I choose not to eat 8,000 calories, but drive my ICE vehicle to the healthy shop and suck on a little seafood stick.

I'm afraid you dont understand addiction if you don't think food is one.

The ignorance your showing today is frankly shocking.
