The all things EV chat thread

It may not have been an issue right then, but its a habit I see all the time. EV drivers using the charging spaces just as a parking space.

We had someone put in a request for charging points in the golf club car park

It’s already a small area that gets full on a Saturday so need to use the overflow ( near greenkeepers compound ) -

We asked how long the car would be parked there - answer - whilst they are playing , so the space would be filled for over 5 hours

We did suggest we could look to install 3 chargers in the overflow - they preferred ones outside the clubhouse and questioned why they should be shoved to the overflow 😂

It’s no surprise it was turned down

I can recommend Simply Dutch at Leeming Bar
The food is excellent value and good. You can even stretch your legs after looking round at the stuff for sale. We stop there on our way up to Northumberland from Kent
If we are stationary for more than 10minutes I will have the hump.😁

This is purely a comfort break for the small of bladder. I don’t need petrol as my X-trail hybrid easily does 480 miles to the tank.

I keep passing the sign for that but have never stopped. Is it a cafe and furniture shop under one roof? Does it have any Dutch elements or is that just a random name for it?

I keep meaning to pop in. One day........

My Swedish meatball cafe sells furniture as well. They are opening a branch near my office soon ... for 2 years now.

Maybe furniture is not the money maker it used to be?

Two EV charging points installed on the main road bottom of our road. They take up three - possibly four main road parking spaces. Bleedin' pain as main road residents now park on our road at times making it hard to park anywhere near our house. And though the spaces are reserved for EV charging until 6pm - and from 6pm to 8am anyone can park there...the main road resident parked on our road don't bother moving their cars. There have been a couple of angry altercations about parking on our road recently - and things are bubbling up to boiling point. Most folks are pragmatic about this - but some on main road couldn't give one, and some on ours are getting very worked up.

ETA...Of course things aren't helped with the fact that there is a good amount of money moving into our cul-sde-sac and many seem to have an obsession with owning big, if not huge, cars...cars that are simply far too big for our Edwardian-era town road - but hey - let's not let a bit of consideration for others get in the way of some folks 'look-at-my-car I've got a fancy one' self-importance.

Taking the EV bit out of it people are selfish and entitled about parking especially near their houses. Nobody wants to walk longer they Deem fit to their house. Case and point my neighbour when he parks his van (that doesn't fit on his driveway) on there rather than round corner and a 2 mins walk away.

He is now talking about redoing his driveway as it's uneven from the weight of the van... Couldn't help but laugh

Nail on head. Modern cars are far too big. We manage fine with a Fiesta and a Citigo.

Got a big car that you don’t need? 😜
Actually, theres 3 between me and my wife. My VW transporter van, her Mazda CX3 and my Mazda CX5.
My CX5 lives in the garage, her CX3 and my van park on the drive. None of them are parked on the road:) That leaves a space on the drive for the youngest to park hers when she round.
I did extand the drive hard standing into the garden so we dont need to park on the road.:)
