First group round in 3:50, last group round in 5:10...

Does it really take that long to decide which ball is the best option? Seriously, 20 yds here or there, bearing in mind the 20yds difference in the subsequent shots... Jeez I even went home for a shave between shots at one point.

Pardon my French but 10/20yds isn't going to make a huge difference to your next shot coz you are probably going to miss the green as you usually do anyway.

FFS make a decision and hit the damn thing before rigor mortice sets in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there's a few things that makes a scramble slower.

Everyone has to go and pick their ball up and walk to the best one before they hit the next shot.
Marking the original ball then dropping/placing each of the others before they're played.
Everyone discussing the line etc on chips and putts rather than each figuring their own in their heads.

I like them (not too often) but I'd say they take 20 minutes more than a normal round at our place.

We had one last month that took 5 1/2 hours for us as the last group, and we were a 3 ball...

Always found it a much slower format - even in a strong (despite me...) group, it was a 4 1/2 hour round.

i played in one on saturday there and it wasn't that bad,we were round in about 4hrs max but it was enjoyable.there were a few tee's we had to wait but the majority of the time it was clear.

Well known for being slower than other forms - a lot of clubs won't allow visiting societies to play Texas Scrambles.

Don't understand the problem. Scrambles are fun games, banter, bragging rights etc. Just relax and enjoy the day. Stress free fun golf, I like it for a change.

I don't mind the odd one (New Years Day) etc but they can be a royal pain the in derriere as well and I can get a bit frustrated. Played in one where i've had three women (combined age approx 189 - handicap - astronomical) in my team and thought we'd not get round before dark. Is it a record to let 3 groups through in a scramble!
