Does tee-height make any real difference to a drive. Should a specifc loft of driver use a specific tee height?

My driver is set to 10.5. Will my tee height not correct, or consistent make much differnence to distance, slight, spin etc?

Not loft specific as such but I've always been told to tee it so the top of the driver is just about half way up the ball (so on it's equator). I use a pink castle tee so that is always consistent and one less thing for me to worry about over a shot.

Teeing it low can make you hit down more steeply on it which will add spin (side and backspin) so probably too much height and inaccurate too.

The sweet spot on many drivers these day is center high which means you usually need to have 1/2 to 3/4 of the ball above the height of the driver face when its put next to the ball once it has been teed up,depending on how deep the face is.
Also some people like to tee it high some low depending how they swing and what gives them confidence.

I drive with my 13* strong 3w and have always used a normal 1.5" tee pushed down until it squeezed my fingers. With some tee boxes having more growth than others I thought at times I was teeing up too high so I've started to use a small red castle for consistency and the difference was immediate.

I think the ball height can play a huge part in your drives whatever you use, consistent height and the correct height to suit your swing I think is a must.

Personally I like to tee the ball a bit a lower than most as i feel i can control the shot better through how i set up and depending on the type of shot i want hit.i would experiment with tee heights and try different shots low fade/draw,high fade/draw.If your course is wet with little fairway run you may want to go for more carry or a 3 wood.linksy dry courses a lower shot with the driver may be a better option. The general rule is half the ball above the face but I would get down the range and try out different shots and see what works best for your swing.good luck

I've just changed from a pink castle tee to a White Castle and I use a deep faced Cleveland xl custom driver9.0 the pink tee was making me strike it a little high on the face.but strike is much better with the white castle

My pro is tying to get me to tee it down a tad lower and I seem to be hitting better. I use to tee my 3 wood up a little too but he wants that much lower so I really squeeze the ball. It is much stronger in terms of flight and distance. For me the ball is no more than halfway above the top of the driver

I've been using those wooden "pro tees" (the ones with the coloured marks whereyour supposed to tee to) but thinking I may try switching back to castle tees because the smallest pro tees the red iron tees marks are way too high for irons and even my 3 wood

Used to use pink for driver and the middle ones for everything else

I use the red "shortee" tees too, for driver the tee is literally just in the ground enough to support the ball, this probably leaves no more than 20% of the ball above the top of the driver face, seems a good height for me, plus with the tee barely being in the ground the tees last a bit longer.
