Re: Sunday November 6th

I dont look into the section to often, I missed all the goings on. Looking forward to the match tomorrow. I'm bringing my secret wepon. He's 14yrs old but he's mad keen. Should be a good match...........

Re: Sunday November 6th

The GM gang have been invited over on many occasions and haven't got the balls, scared of getting stuffed..........;-)
Maybe this comming year they will venture over the pond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sunday November 6th

Fingers crossed we can get a decent show. Portmarnock/Island or Baltray/seapoint etc would be a cracking two dayer.

Re: Sunday November 6th

Weather was chilly to begin with, but the low winter sun soon started piercing through thin cloud to shone most of the round only becoming a little cloudy towards the end of the round. I have to say that bar the roped areas up the first the course was in great order especially given the rain all week. The green were firm and the fairways respectable.
We all got off to a slow start at the first but birdies started popping up from the second hole on with everyone figuring in them.
We did have a wee match, with Ian and his son eventually coming out with a 2&1 win over James and myself. We had the better front 9 but just couldn't keep it going against a couple of birdies from the guys early in the back nine. I think our hotdogs were spiked at the halfway house!! They were 1 up with 3 to go when Ian jr. rolled in a putt on a tricky hole cut on a slope on the 16th and we halved the 17th to go down 2&1.
No real qualms with my own game, only two bad irons from the tee and one really poor wedge, the rest of my own game was ok, couple of birdies (2nd and 15th iirc) and a couple of poor holes where the teeshots were misjudged with regards to line. I'll let the other guys comment on their performances, I will say that there were plenty of great shots though and you missed a fine day for golf. :). Thanks again to James for the invite, much appreciated.

Re: Sunday November 6th

Sums it up well, Brendy.
Very enjoyable game, I was a bit worried about taking James and Brendy on, but I did say I was bringing my secret wepon, he came good on the 16th with that putt. You didnt say anything about ur classic birdie on the 15th, Class drive, Classic wedge and a TAP in for your 3. It's not how, it's how many.
The hotdogs were lovely and very much needed.
At the end of the day a very enjoyable game of golf was had by all.
Lovely course and in great order.
Roll on the next meet.
Cheers James and Brendy

Yea, good drive, erm open faced wedge we'll call it and a radar putt :D
I think I enjoyed the 2nd hole birdie to be honest though :) much more regulation, on the par4 in one and two putts, kept to dreaded 3 putt at bay there!

Yea the putt on 16 certainly killed it off for us, did he break into a smile on the way home? :)

Re: Sunday November 6th

A very quiet young lad, Hopefully he will keep at the golf as I think he could go low. He's a far better golfer than I ever was at that age. 41 pts he had yeaterday.
Our pro and assisant rate him, saying good things about his swing and attitude...

He's hope'n

Re: Sunday November 6th

Really enjoyed the game, was a close match until that great putt on 16!
Young Ian is a great player, I said to the wife when I got back that I thought he could easily make scratch over the next couple of years!
The course has been playing well, I was happy to arrange such a nice day for us all, lol.
I think I had 39 shots on the front, then my hangover kicked in, and went south from there!! lol
My personal highlight of the day was 7 iron at 5, then nice birdie putt for 2.
Some really good golf at times, and good company, thanks again for the round, Brendy the pics etc are very good! I didnt realise you were shooting them until just before I spanked one ob on 11!!
:)
