Stolen clubs

A few months ago, someone from the forum had his clubs stolen from his car. Fortunately, the insurance coughed up.
I asked how many people had photographs of their clubs in case the same thing happened to them. I seem to remember not many had.
How many newbies would be able to prove what clubs they had if they were stolen.
"Yes officer, there was a remote control trolley, tour bag, Dry-joys, full set of Ping graphites, sky caddie 5, 2x dozen ProV1s, etc etc"

With Christmas not far away, I'm sure the tea leaves will be out "shopping" soon.

Most of mine were c/f by Titleist, so they have records, my SC5 is registered to me, so Skygolf have records, so it is only my bag, putter, umbrella and trolley that aren't provable, except I still have the receipt for the trolley (for warranty purposes). The putter would be a pain to lose though. Might have the receipt somewhere, must check.

How much would it cost to replace all your golf kit if the insurance didn't pay out?
I'm guessing there's quite alot of money left sitting around outside clubhouses and pro shops on medal days and society "meets"

A friend of mine had his gear stolen from his shed. His insurers sent him a letter that just told him to go to his nearest approved shop and kit himself out with whatever he had lost, He didn't milk it as some would and did just what they asked him to do. No fuss or receipts required. Now that's service.

What is the position when taking a policy out these days. Do you have to be in a position to prove the cost of the items (i.e. have receipts for everything) or would photgraphic proof of ownership suffice.

For example I can produce receipts for my R9 and Tour Burner irons but my driver was a gift from GM. My woods are 2 years old and I have no receipt. I have three bags, 1 trolley and 2 carry (again no receipts), 2 x myjoys, 1 x Hi Tec and 3 x dryjoys (receipts for 2 x DJ's). I have an SC5 and a Go-Kart with no proof of purchase but details held by both companies. There are also the sundries like balls gloves (loads) etc.

Where would I stand taking out new protection today without all the receipts?

I took out insurance recently, absolutely nothing on the paperwork or website about required proofs, only about self-calculated total value.

of course if you need to make a claim whatever you have won't be sufficient.

My golf clubs are covered even away from the house by Tesco insurance under my home insurance policy. I specifically asked at the last re-newal as I have over £2500 worth of gear.

I also did not need to take out any additional coverage or provide and proof of my clubs. You guys should check your house and contents insurance before taking out often unnecessary costly additional golf insurance.

taking out insurance had more to do with third party cover.
I'm pessimistic about this aspect - I think that within a couple of years it will be a requirement. (followed not too long after by the insurance companies protecting their investment and insisting on hard hats!)

i have shredded the receipts i had, greater fear of my identify being stolen than my clubs.

I am insured though, might take pictures when the wife is out, she already thinks I love golf more than her so not sure how she would cope if she saw me photographing my clubs...

There should also be a serial number on one of the irons in your set guys....take note of the number. Woods as well.
