Below is an example of my stats for my home course.

Yellow is better than h'cap, blue is equal to, red is worse than. Please excuse the watermark, but I had to convert it from PDF to JPEG to get it on here.

The programme is Scoresaver 2. And is just a very small part of what it has to offer.

From looking at this I know which holes I need to work on and which holes are kindest to me.

I hope it helps those that were asking about stats sofware.

ps I don't work for them.

Not yet being convinced by the keeping of stats like these, what does this data tell you?
Obviously you need to keep the double figure scores off the card and you're capable of parring all but the last. But waht do you need to work on?

I've just begun SS2 on the months trial to see for myself but I'd be interested to know how you interpret your data.

Imurg. Each to their own, and I'm not pushing the idea of stat keeping. Just merely illustrating to those that were interested in the programme.

Firstly and very simply, it tells me that I can actually play this game, occasionally! Without this information I probably would have quit ages ago.

The what club used info doesn't appear on this programme, but I know that I need to seriously re-think how I approach some of the holes that give me an issue. For example, am I picking up more penalties on a certain hole, if so why. Should I use an easier club off the tee, or is it because I always 3 putt or more on this hole.

You cannot just look at these figures without knowing yourself what's happening on the course.

The 18th is a classic. Never pared it. Why not? My FIR is okay, my putts aren't far off the mark, but my GIR are very poor. I know that if you go left or right of centre on the fairway you're totally blocked for getting to the green by trees. The fairway shot is often a downhill lie as well, which does create it's own problems for me. The green is also 12feet from the terrance at the nineteenth. Could it be that I'm not getting GIR because of worrying about ditching the ball into the terrance. I know it's not, but it's a possibility. But stats won't tell you that.

I also know that there are certain holes that are kinder to me than others. 5, 6, 7, and 8 for example. Not perfect by a long shot, but I know that I am unlikely to blob these holes. So will often take a bit more of a risk on them for the gross birdie opportunities that they can give.

Stats aren't for everyone, and I respect that. But I find that it's really nice to look over them and remind myself that I can actually play this game. Especially when I have a bad round like I did on Monday.

Thanks for that Hapless - I'm going to keep an eye on things for a while to see if it's going to make a difference for me.
How long is that last hole? if you're driving it 255.......

Done it a few times. Though normally when the ground is hard. As long as you get it over the brow of the hill with pace it will just keep on rolling. Though it has to be straight or very slight draw.

This distance was mearsured with the strokesaver guide. However I'm now using the GPS. But I'm only using a 3 wood now of course. So most of the driving distance stats on here are with the 3 wood, not the driver.

Just noticed the date range on the stats .......try changing these to "last year" "this year" to give yourself more recent data.

Just think ss2 is a great tool!!!!!
