St Annes Old Links

Have any of you that showed interest entered the 3-9 comp on 1st sept?

Can you choose your tee time and partners?

Didn't know about that but will look into it today..... Might be up for playing in that.

Edit: must be full as not an option on the online booking page....

You have to book it via a guy at the club, I don't know why, you'd think they'd just Do it online with the rest of the Comps.
I contacted the club about a month ago to book on it Then put it on here. the guy phoned me back but I was a bit busy at work at the time and i never got back to him. they did have times available though.

Dave Turnbull was OK when I said I had played Wallasey, Formby & Hoylake to name just a few links courses, you just got to let him know your competent enough to get around and then he says to let "them" know when you register on the morning that your playing off the maximum 18 allowance as agreed.

Fish / Birchy,

No go for the 26th I'm afraid. Mrs H has reminded me we have some of her family over for lunch :(

Apologies for delay, was waiting on her clearance and I've been in meetings all morning.

Hope you find a replacement.

Craig

Hmm, not sure whether or not to make the trip if no-one else can make it.

If I were the sort of person that had played 1 other links course and not been inspired, and wanted to know what all the fuss about "golf the way it should be played" was about, should I go? ;)

Lovely links course. Flatish but the links breeze and plentiful bunkers make it a proper challenge. I really enjoyed playing it.

If I was good enough handicap wise I would be there like a shot! Maybe next year

If you are looking for a Links course that will make you fall in love with links courses, then I don't believe St Annes Old is the one to do it - much as I like it!

For that sort of 'epiphany', I believe you need to JOIN a links course and play it often enough to appreciate what it's about. Or spend a week at one of the links festivals that are about.

I'm not a believer in this 'way it should be played' twaddle, but links golf certainly has attractions - at least in UK!

The one time (twice, but same course) I played links golf, I didn't come away thinking it was a great test and itching to get back.

As it stands at the moment, when the course debate threads come round, links is the bottom of my list and I feel like I'm missing out somewhere. I just want to give it a fair crack of the whip and this looked like it might fit the bill.

My place is still available to get this back on topic, so please, is anyone interested before I have to let the club know I'm out.

Let me talk with my mate tonight to see if he is interested. Will let you know tomorrow. Are the club OK with you doing a name change?

Yes they are, they just need to know the persons new details, max 18 handicap preferred although I swung my 19 at the time.

Fish, I have filled the space for you. Had 3 mates wanting the space so if anyone else pulls out before a 11am tee time please let me know. Pm sent to you

LQ - My handicap has come down to below 10, so someone can take my spot with Karl102 and StuC at 1210. I have spoke to the comps secretary and I can play but cant win, BUT if someone else applies to enter then he said he'd have to let them take my spot.

Thanks for the offer junior but that's pushing it time wise. I am leaving Lincoln at 5am and I don't think my mate would fancy a 5hr wait to tee off. Thanks for the offer.
