He won five stages at the tour de France, and the green jacket. He then became world champion. A very deserved winner, and the stand out for me.

Go to any European country and Cavendish will be offered as the top sportsperson this year - I do realise in UK it is darts etc that is considered worthy of an award.


However, thank God, it was not blooming cricket that stole the show.
