Re: Sports personality of the year
No footballers..........hooray.
No footballers..........hooray.
...as suual someone brings up 'personality' when it has nothing to do with 'personality'As usual it will be someone minus a personality
As happens every year, this nonsense gets trotted out, and every year it's pointed out it's an award for sporting achievement, that the beeb saddled from day one with a total misnomer. If personality has anything to do with it, then that young lady boxer from Leeds,(Nicola Adams?) gets my vote.
I thought she was a breath of fresh air, and that Ali shuffle was pure class..
Agree with that, I'm full of respect for his achievements, but I'm not a band wagon jumper in terms of thinking he is a top bloke. Always found him to be lacking in anything close to personality or manners.
If you get a chance try and watch the docu that was on the other week - Bradley Wiggins : A year in yellow
That will give you an insight.
I don't really take any notice of it anymore, it lost its appeal a couple of years ago for me. I wouldn't trust the BBC with anything anymore.
I have lost track of the awards as I have not watched it for a few years. Is there a team award still? If so Ryder Cup Team.
Individual award to Andy or Brad although I would love to see Ben whathisname get it.

Straight fight between Wiggins and Murray.
Interesting to see the BBC publishing the people who came up with the short list this year. After the debacle of last year when it turned out Nuts and Zoo magazine were on the decision making panel.
