It was fine as a studio-based thing, but the BBC has now taken it on the road in cavernous arenas in the name of inclusivity for other parts of the country. All driven by fear of license fee cuts rather than anything else.

If a golfer is going to win it, i'd have thought Donald should get it. World number 1 and topping both the US and European money lists.

Have to say I wont be setting the sky + for it though.

The last real personality to win it was Gazza.

I think the irony of Faldo winning it was lost on 99% of the population.

Actually I think Donald is the least likely of the three to win. I don't know he's as well known as the other two for non-golfers. McIlroy's story of disaster and then triumph is a good one but I reckon the Beeb will use all the schmaltz of Darren losing his wife, in the golfing wilderness and then finding a new love, domestic peace and re-invigorated to bcome Open champ.
