I'm quite shocked and disgusted to see so many of the top players spitting on the course. There is just no justification and denegrates the sport.

Why is this not banned?

Get over yourself, if you have to spit you have to spit. No-one wants to swallow their own saliver - now thats disgusting! They could do it more discreetly though.

You're quite wrong Benny. You don't have to spit. How many times do you have to spit in public? How many times does your wife/girlfriend/mother spit? It's a bit different with fast moving sports like rugby and football when the mouth becomes dry, but it's not necessary on the golf course. It's disgusting and I'm surprised that anyone could even think of excusing it.

Incidently, you will find that you spend all your waking life swallowing your saliver. It's a natural process.

I spit quite alot and I don't see the problem with it as long as its not blatant and in public view. I'm not quite wrong, I'm just not agreeing with you. Incidentally my mother spat on tuesday night when Liverpool went 4-2 up against her beloved Arsenal and whether my wife chooses to spit or swallow is a subject of utmost irrelavence.

There is a couple of habitual spitters on our course, I even asked one why he did it, he said its just a bad habit. How hard is it to stop? I used to bite my nails, when I started getting a little amount of maturity, I stopped. Come on, saliva is tasteless and is produced by your very own glands in your very own mouth, its not like its bovril flavoured.

I'm glad to see someone else on this forum standing up for people's right's. If I want to spit it out I will. Dont get me wrong, I wont do it in ur face but I will spit. I have seen people holding 1 side of their nose and blowing hard, now do you guys think thats ok?
