Anyone over 50 had lessons and actually improved?

Practice is great if when you go onto the course and something happens that you have practiced.
I too like working on my game, some don’t,but each to their own.
The key is working on what your weaknesses are because that is obviously where your losing shots.
Exactly…though I’ve discovered that though I know where I chuck away shots or that I could do better, I’m pretty useless at working out why things go wrong. My coach can do that for me…in that way ensuring the actual weakness(ess) are identified rather than my own interpretation of how these weaknesses are manifest.

Not lessons, no, but professional fitting, yes!!
Im 62. Used to be stiff shafts all the way (oooh err!) but now need regulars.
In May changed my 3 wood for a 5 wood. Won the Handicap club champs.
In August changed my driver. (Ai Smoke). Won the August medal.

Started season at 11.3, finished at 9.5.

I dont think lessons would improve me now.

Oh ye of little faith 😉

I’ll note that I also had a fitting and new bats back when I started on the lessons.

I dunno. In theory this is correct, but I've been to the driving range more this year than any other year in my life, and I've still got worse. I'm not sure that just hitting more balls is enough.

Yeah - just hitting balls without purpose is not enough. But hitting balls to understand patterns and develop consistency is enough to stabilise scoring. As I mentioned, I've seen people with terrible swings get down to single figures because they know their game. They are not going to get to scratch with a poor swing but they can consistently and safely slice it around 18 holes.

You used to play at Haste Hill, there were some veery good examples of this. Maybe these guys got away with it because it's a short and easy course... they would be in trouble on a championship course.
