I ordered a TaylorMade Burner Superfast 2.0 from Online golf last night and am wondering is £190 too much to spend on one club? The most that I have ever spent on a driver was £149 when I bought a R9 and before that the max was £100. At least with Online golf if I dont like it ive got 30days to send it back, but dont think that will happen!!

Well I've just spent £420 on one and £200 on a 3 wood, so no, £190 isn't too much.

The way I see it, a lot of guys think nothing of going out and spending £50 to £100 on booze at the weekend.I choose to spend my money on golf gear.At least I've got something to show for it.

I always feel guilty when I buy something expensive....
usually about 2 or 3 seconds after pressing the "buy now" button.
But it soon passes when I have to start thinking up excuses to tell the wife

You work, you earn, you spend, why should you feel guilty?

At least you havn't wasted the money

If you can afford it then no it isnt. If you have other more important priorities with your money then yes it is. Each person will see it differently , I can afford to spend as much as I want but I certainly wouldnt spend that sort of money on a golf club.

It was the R11 TP which was £335 and the shaft I got fitted for was an 85 quid upgrade.I just Wish it would hurry up and arrive.

Interested in how other 'wimps' hide their golf purchases from HID? So far I've found that swapping headcovers works well.... (not so good for trolleys or bags tho) :)

If your weans need food or shoes then its too expensive. If not then its a luxury item for you to enjoy.

Flipin eck! £620 on two clubs!

Agree with you on the 'something tangible' statement though. Thing is, we are DINK's at the moment so nothing else to spend the money on.

Just bought a 2.0 superfast myself but used my G15 to finance half of it and used the rest of my club credit to pay for the rest, lavly jabbly *rubs hands.

I Collected it on Saturday morning and peeled off the plastic while walking onto the 1st.
Going from a high spinning almost ballooning shape of drive, the superfast 2 defininately has a slightly lower flight which is what I was after. I hit it well all day bar one hole where I hit a hook. Normally the same shot with the g15 would have out me over the bank and into the thick trees, the superfast didnt which leads me to think that it is a little less forgiving for off centre hits.
I went from a stiff 9 deg g15 to a stiff 9.5 TM, time will tell but I really fancy this new club, if you get the red/black grip give it a soapy wash before use as it feels a little greasey at first. I sold my ping the day before I got my new club so was hoping it went as we as it looked. Saturday was very very windy so haven't really seen if it is any longer than the g15.
So far so good though.

Only expensive if you need to sacrifice in other areas. I'm having a difficult year financially and so couldn't commit to as many GM days as I'd have liked or justify any new clubs as it would have just left HID too short and that isn't fair on her. However once we get back on a stronger footing (or the sword of damaclese known as redundancy goes away) then I would happily fork out on a new driver or in my case more likely a new pair of FJ Icons
