Going off Smiffy's thread (didn't wish to hijack) made me wonder?????

Does anyone else have the pleasure of someones company when playing solo?

My son walked round with me the other night, nice bit of company whilst playing. Also put me right on one or two shots as well!!! :o

The missus came once when I went up to play a few holes. Can't say she was too impressed with my golf but did enjoy the walk and the "togetherness"!!!!

I enjoy a golf playing friend walking round with me, however i once took my missus around with me and it was the worst thing i ever did... "you missed the hole", "Thats not where you said it'd go", "Whats par for?"

NOT FUN

I really enjoy playing a solo round especially if its quiet and I can put two balls in play and try different things. I'm not adverse to joining others for a game but there are times when I really want just my own company.

HID keeps saying she'll walk 9 holes as she's not been out on the new RA course since we moved over from the racecourse but she never seems to do it (wrong shoes, too tired etc)

I can't stand playing on my own.
The wife has walked round with me on a number of occasions, she loves walking and I enjoy the company.
Played on Saturday evening, it was just going to me and her (I took a spare 7 iron with me so that she could have a few "practice shots" once we were away from the clubhouse) but a mate phoned me in the morning and asked if he could join us.
Playing on your own is a bit like the other side not turning up for an FA Cup final.

The two best times I enjoy golf the most are when, I go out on my own and everything works, I enjoy the day, the course and my golf, and when I play with others, either one person or a group where they are great company and good golfers, all enjoying their day too.

Can't beat it!

I don't mind either. HID has started playing golf and so gives me options to play with her or with the normal partners, sometimes I just fancy playing early and join up with a 3 ball I don't know.

im not a big fan of playing solo, rather play with company. firstly for the humour and secondly no one believes your score when you play solo

I play a lot of solo and I find it very relaxing. Recently been playing with CVG quite a bit and that's good too - seeya friday Col!

I play solo a lot. It can be enjoyable but I'll happily join up with anyone.

last time out, busy course, so four of us - total strangers - joined up rather than trail around. One of the four, a first sergeant from Alconbury (deep south, chewing tobacco and all), hit the ball absolutely miles - 9-iron into a 173 yard par 3.

I used to look at singleton's on the course and think "sad git, get some friends you low life scum" until 1 day nobody I knew could play, so I went for a round by myself and instantly converted myself! lol

I've never had anyone just walking round with me, to be honest I think i'd find that distracting and would prefer to play alone or have the other person playing too.

I keep asking HID if she fancies driving a buggy for me while I play just because she's still never been on a golf course but as yet she is refusing.

I really don't like playing on my own anymore. Turned up at the club for a Roundup Saturday morning, only to find there was a competition on. Decided to just play 9 by myself, but despite a few good hits I walked off after a duff on the third tee. Had I not felt rushed due to the course being busy I probably would have spent a lot of time practising.

Never had non-playing company before though.

Ive just had a minor surgury which means I shouldnt really walk around too much, so because of this my girlfriend is going to drive me round when she gets back :)

Im looking forward to it.
