So this morning I went to hit my standard 80 balls. The driving range was very quiet. I was on my own at one point and then 2 lads arrived and then an older man (about 55-60). Got down to my last 20 or so balls and I could smell smoke, turned around and sure enough the older guy is smoking what smelt like a cigar or a roll up. I personally didn't think this would be allowed. Views?

He shouldn't have been smoking there. It's a public place. I'm an ex smoker and without trying to be a hypocrite I can't stand smoking!

Did you not say anything to a member of staff?

I think all the ranges round here are no smoking. Even as a smoker I would not even think of lighting up in a confined space.

Depends if it is a no smoking area (which I guess it is not ) No problems here, As an ex smoker in Scotland I am for the ban in pubs and clubs but if the place is an open area he can smoke like a lum,

I didn't know if it was right or wrong so didn't mention it to staff but I just found it a bit inconsiderate that when people are trying to concentrate on golf that someone is 2 bays behind you blowing smoke everywhere.

The range I go to is attached to AG, and one of the AG staff always nips out for a cigarette behind the ball dispenser. I don't know if he realises the smoke drifts over all 20 or so bays. Whenever he is working it happens at some stage during my hour or so of hitting balls, so he is spending a good amount of time out of the shop have a fag break. It really annoys me, I'd have thought his colleagues too, but what can you do?

As a smoker I am actually for the pub smoking ban, it reduces the amount I smoke when out and my clothes don't stink of smoke (as much)

Not a fan of people smoking near me on the range but to be honest, I'm more interested in my own game and so unless it is blowing directly into my bay and more specifically around me when I'm hitting I've not a problem
