I was under the impression that airlines were charged at airports for landing and taking off.
And they won't be charged any differently

But they will sit in the Scottish parliament and vote for Scottish income tax rates while English MP's wont. Surely its not correct that Scottish MPs should also vote on English tax rates as well?
And no, he shouldn't vote on them if he sits in the Scottish parliament. He can administer the results though.
How do you think airports make money????
Less APD=cheaper tickets=more passengers=more money for airports through increased ticket charge income and footfall.
For all those supporting Scottish independence what's the feeling in Scotland at the minute from the pre-referendum talk of an independent Scotland being supported by a "cautious estimate of oil prices remaining at around £113 per barrel" what with the price at close of business today being $72.5 and no immediate signs of it climbing back to it's previous levels?
He doesn't sit in the Scottish Parliament, he sits at Westminster. He is an MP not an MSP.
I agree Scottish MP's shouldn't vote in English only matters but stopping them voting in UK matters is dictatorial and plays right into the hands of Nationalists
Scotland seems to have it both ways at the moment. A Scottish Parliament where MSP's can vote on matters relating only to Scotland, and the UK Parliament where Scottish MPs can vote on matters that only relate to England and Wales!
Airports don't make money from APD, so your first point is irrelevant.
APD may increase numbers slightly but it won't be deal breaking, it will certainly give the holidaymaker a bit more in their pocket, they would be the main beneficiaries.
Moot point as it hasn't changed anyway and unlikely to change just yet
I totally agree with the latter point. The regional parliaments/assemblies are just very expensive talking shops which keep yet another layer of politicians and bureaucrats on the political gravy train at our expense. Pro rata, the Scots get equal representation to the rest of the UK in the Westminster Government, and a high number of senior ministers seem to have had Scottish roots over the last few years, so why are they so hard done by?The UK parliament is exactly that, I'm afraid. MPs must be able to debate and vote on all business that comes before it. I agree about the inherent unfairness of it but the fault is with devolution. The solution is devolved regional parliaments that all have the same powers and a UK parliament that only deals with UK-wide matters. Alternatively we could scrap the Scottish, Welsh and NI parliaments - which would get my vote.
I think it is quite clear that Westminster is not working for the majority of UK citizens.
Devolution to the English regions is the answer but for some reason they seem to be scared of the responsibility.
I watched 10 minutes of PM questions the other day and it was worse than primary school playground behaviour.
We deserve a whole lot better than those semi trained monkeys.[/b
The original idea of the UK Parliament was that each constituency would elect a representative of the local population who would look after their interests. Now you almost always get a choice of candidates from the political elites, representing large pressure groups, imposed upon us. Maybe we should vote for more local independent candidates to break this system?I think it is quite clear that Westminster is not working for the majority of UK citizens.

But if Scotland decides its own tax levels then income tax in England will be an English matter.

I'm agreeing with you, my point isn't about tax it's about other matters, you can't have scottish MPs with no say in UK wide matters
