Looking for a new car.....recommendations? Compact/small suv style. Might go down tomorrow and look at the Citroen C3, which after some research seems to be a decent car. Probably should have kept our old Suzuki Vitara that we got rid of last Spring....but even that was slightly bigger than we wanted. Not expensive. Under £30k.

Isn't the Niro getting up towards Karoq range in size? Prices seem to be getting real close to £30K or a little over.. I can do that, but we really don't drive very much....maybe 4000 a year.

My parents just paid 31k for a year old EV one. 25k for a 2 year old EV one , I would expect the hybrid to be cheaper maybe?

Size isn't that bad tbh , it's about the size of a focus just higher

Suzuki Ignis or S-Cross
Just trying to get rid of our Ignis. Only had it for a year, but the cvt I am finding too annoying. And....had someone hit me from behind a couple months ago...after repairs I've got a leak into the boot. Suzuki said they would give me £16K for it...I'd take less than that to get it off my hands. Great little car around town though. S-cross and Vitara are maybe on the large end of my choices. I was just in the dealer today looking at them again.

Toyota Yaris Cross

Skoda Kamiq
Yep...been looking at YouTubes of these. The Toyota is definitely on the list.....my wife likes the looks as well. The Kamiq has good reviews, but then when you get to the end of reviews they mention it's got some mediocre dependability ratings....which all the Volkswagen group seems to have.

Got to be worth looking at a Dacia Duster, hasn't it?
Happened to be at a Dacia Renault dealer a couple of weeks ago and they had the brand new one in the car park - just delivered. Looked really nice. I'm very keen to have a test drive and I'm not even in the market for a new car right now.

I had thought about it. I'm fighting a lot of my old prejudices on some cars. From my time back in the 80's, cars like Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, were all terrible for dependability. The Dacia's came out and the early ones weren't rated very well......at least from the reviews they are getting better and better and the power in the cars seems to be better as well.

I think I'll be going out to look at the Toyota Yaris Cross today and the Citroen.....The nearest Skoda dealer is most of an hour away.

Might be a new electric one coming out soon.... 😋
I'm really not interested in electric.....no real good reason why, other than they cost more to buy. I've never done the leasing routine, but considering how I've been changing cars in recent years that might be the smarter route to take. I'm actually the perfect electric person.....very little yearly mileage, no long trips.

I wouldn't have considered it a few years ago but it's replaced the Skoda Yeti as the motoring journos' hero budget car. Quite a few of the Renault group seen to have improved a lot.

New Yeti coming out......

Definitely going to look at the Yaris Cross today if they have one....quick stop past the Citroen place as well.

Are you looking at new cars?
Yes. If I had to just walk up and buy something without trying....I'd be leaning towards that Toyota Yaris Cross. Heading out there this morning if they have one to look at/test drive. Probably swing past the Citroen place as well.

Funny thing....the Suzuki dealer kept the Ignis overnight when replacing the fuel pump and let me have one of their Swifts. Loved it. Plenty of oomph. They told me it was a 3 cylinder cvt. When I look online at YouTubes etc, it states something like 12 seconds to 60. The car I had was a good bit faster than that, but it didn't say it was a sport model. Boot was a hair to small for me though.....

Honda HR-V or Jazz Crosstar

But whatever you go for and are buying new, make sure your dealer is pretty close by.
