Small car options?

SIL is wanting a very reliable and very safe small car at no more than £100 PW

Fix It Again Tomorrow are def out the picture so any recommendations that fit the criteria?

When you say £100 PW what is that? The cost of the car itself or inclusive of running/isurance etc as £433 per month is a fair bit.

New Peugeot 208 is a cracking car (and I hate French motors) so much so that the Mrs has just got one. PCP at £160 PM and 60mpg average, group 6 insurance and £20 PA RLF. Spacious and safe but also teeny-tiny on the outside.

VW polo all day. They are doing cracking deals on new, free insurance too. Solid reliable not flashy but nice classy and with the kudos of the VW badge. 1.2 can struggle for grunt but it's easy enough if you gear it right. 1.4 is a better engine. I've had mine 7 months and it's a belter.

Dont VW have an even smaller version called "up" now? swear i saw one stickered up on the motorway saying you can get them for £99 per month....

I think my 'careful' wife has cracked the small car thing.
She buys a 6 month to 1 year old Fiesta 1300 every 3 to 4 years.
She still gets a decent trade in price on her old car.
Costs her less than £1000 pa depreciation and the car is very cheap to run, tax, insure and service.

Have a look at the Hyundai i10 and i20 and the Kia, seriously good cars. I drove an i40 tourer yesterday and for the money beats a 3 series hands down.

i think top gear said the 5 door will be a better buy, (seat and i think skoda have the car under another name as they are all part of the VW group) ask AMcC about his really wee car

I've driven the UP! nice, full of gadgets, lovely interior too. Carefull with V dub though everything is extra.

This. Hyundai make fantastic looking cars these days. The i30 in particular looks awesome as does the i40 but that's a bit large.

Kia Cee'd as well? Lovely looking thing.

Only drove the last incarnation and it was very plastic-y on the inside. But Nissan's are historically very reliable.

Have a look at the new Kia Picanto, got the wife one a couple of month ago and she likes it. Great value and MPG is very good:thup:

Greg, my neighbours son in a Peugeot Mechanic and he says he wouldn't touch any of the current range. That to me speaks volumes!
