Not going to bang on and on about slow play - it's been done to death. I'm merely going to ask a question;

Is the 3 hours, 7 minutes taken by a 4-ball of recreational golfers to play the front nine at our place this morning some sort of unwelcome record?

3 hours 35 minutes to play the front 9 @ the National in Turkey they were letting groups off every 3 minutes on the par 5 1st so it all bottle necked on the par 3 2nd, had the joy of playing behind a 3 ball which included some old woman who couldn't hit the ball more than 20 yards and it always went sideways, should have taken a good book!

Played a few rounds in turkey that were ridiculously slow!

close:)

a mate of mine who works at Castle Stuart told me a couple of months ago they had a 4 ball of Americans that too 4 hours to play the front 9.

They had to ask them to come back the next day as it took another 3 hours to play 5 holes;)

they had to send some one out in a buggy to find them as they were locking the place up and ready to go home after 10 at night ;)

Everytime i play Portstewart i'm 3 hrs for holes, i ended up being 5hrs 40 for 18 had lost the will to live by that time,the time before, i walked of after 16, i think it was 5hrs 10 mins.

I been 2and half hours on front9 and walked off saying I was cold an hungry. My mate joined me and we left the other pair playing. I just can't bare going that slow its painfull what was worse was open course in front and people rapidly catching up.
Longest ever was with someone from group before 5.30 hours for a round. I waited one hole 16mins between tee shot and second shot and I only drove 260yrds lol

We once played Addington Court, and took 2 hours to play 4 holes!!! I'm not joking!

We went back to the pro shop, and demanded our money back. They offered us a part-refund and free 18 holes on their "other" course, which was a ropey 18 holer. That said, there was no-one on that course, so we breezed round.

Clearly wrong, but the question going through my mind is how on earth did they manage to take that long without dying of boredom. Only 1 ball each so they had to be found?

It seems to be becoming quite common! A 3-ball which started just behind us this morning took 2 hours 35 minutes to reach the 9th green, and that on a day when the course was half empty.

I put it down largely to the second cut of rough. It's slowing things down to such an extent that it's getting a little silly. And it's putting members off playing medal competitions - this weekend the entries are down almost 50%, with many citing the fact that the course, whilst being in tremendous condition, is also now virtually unplayable.

I was playing my course as a two ball, and as we got to the 14th tee two guys were teeing off on the par 5 18th. My partner and I played the par 4 14th, par 4 15th, par 3 16th, par 4 17th, and two shots on the 18th before we had to wait for the two in front to clear the green.

They have to be the slowest golfers I have ever seen.
