Sir Ian Poulter

Did you know Poulter up till this RC had the same record as Luke Donald and this year scored just one point more?

Hardly head and shoulders above everyone.

Im not dousing any flames, just pointing to facts. You on the other hand are trying to make Poulter into something he isnt.

Passion, comebacks, fist pumps, drama! That's what the people want! I'm not knocking Luke, but Poulter has all these things! And it's beautiful! When people talk about the Ryder Cup, they'll talk about Poulter's Saturday afternoon charge, his fightback on the Sunday afternoon!

As I said, we can talk about it all day. The thread is about Ian Poulter becoming getting a knighthood, and I'd love to see it.

He hasn't done enough to deserve it so why should he, i'll through another one at you to see how you bite.

He doesn't even live here permanently, not really passionate about the country afterall

Poulter is a magnificent example of how to make a wee bit talent and bucket loads of guts go along way.Possibly the least talented player on the European team, but the biggest fighter by a country mile.So well done Poults.

As for knighthoods, I couldn't care any less.

I'll add another to it, he wasnt even playing for the country either

No he wasn't.... We are all [like it or not] bloody Europeans these days :(...

Was great to see all the flags of 'our' isles along with some from Europe, on display, alongside one another around the course as a show of unity... Shame it can't always be that way....

This is the equivalent of someone on a darts forum calling for Phil " the power" Taylor to receive a knighthood because he won a few tournaments and pumped his fists a few times.
He doesn't deserve one and he isn't going to get one.

It was good to see for definate.

I wonder what you guys think average is. Poulter is way above average IN THE WORLD rankings. That is not average. Average is a good touring pro that makes a good living by making the cut now and then and the odd good finish. Anyone in the top 100 in the world is above average, anyone in the top 50 certainly is and Poulter is higher than that. We have millions of golfers in the world, many pro tours and Poulter stands above the biggest majority of them.

Now after this week ive got a borderline man crush on Poulter :-) but a knighthood? Honestly? Nobody can seriously be suggesting that can they?

Knighthoods are usually for people who have excelled in their field at the very top level consistently for a number of years and Poulter is some distance from achieving that.

I think we are forgetting about the rest of the guys Poulter had a great Ryder Cup as usual but the Ryder cup is a TEAM event, Luke Donald , Garcia, Lawrie, Rose Poulter, putting those first 5 points on the board gave the rest of the team the inspiration to go on and get the job done.it DEFLATED the Americans and Martin Kaymer puts his putt 7ft past then nails it coming back for the win thats rocks of steel.Sorry Poulter great player great Ryder cup but Knighthood you can't be serious.
