Is there anything better than the simple things that make us happy. Sure the big things we save for make us happy, but its the little things that put a smile on your face and put you in a really good mood.

Like tonight, arrived home from work and HID has a freshly cooked Steak, home made chips and side salad waiting on the table for me. Devour that and perch myself on the sofa, she comes along with a freshly made coffee flicks the footy on for me and disappears back to the kitchen only to surface a few minutes later with a plate of 3 perfectly formed pancakes.

She's off to bed now as she has an early start, so i've been sat her big grin on my grid thinking what a cracking way to come home from work. Then BOOM.............. It hits me Thursday = Valentines day and i've planned and bought SOD ALL, and i'm working a long shift tomorrow so my options are limited damn it.

How quick that nice feeling has become one of i'm gonna get an ear bashing and thinking maybe thats what tonight was about buttering me up to make sure i'd done something Oooops!

Oh you mad mad fool. Nothing is done for no reason, you should have been scared the minute you walked indoors, once the footie was being switched on you were a hooked fish and dead in the water!

How could you forget? The Valentines day lights have been up since January and I am off to get the valentines day tree today. I am fed up of all these Valentines day songs which have been playing on perpetual loop since December!

Like a lamb to the slaughter dude, you have royally been done up like kipper... i hope the same day red rose order doesn't set you back too much Fader...

I prefer my house,

Mrs Rooter - Don't get anything for Valentines, its a waste of money. (and she is not playing mind games!!) she means it! last year was cards only, this year, nothing!! love it!!

I'm sure this will be talked about at your funeral in a couple of weeks.
In our house HID cooks a nice dinner and I buy her some flowers.
So far the flowers are bought and in a bucket of water in the shed. She's off to buy steaks for dinner while I'm at work later.

Same here! Mrs Piece said to me, and I quote, "If you buy me those over inflated priced roses on sale at supermarkets, Intaflora or whereever, I'll punch you in the face!". Errr, ok, then! That's fine by me! :D

I cook the meal, as I'm fortunate to be home early every day. We don't do cards or flowers. Just great food (if I say so myself, wifey says so !!!) great wine, and a vid. Well a DVD now. Well actually it's a download, but download doesn't actually sound very good. :whoo:

+1 for the No To Valentines Day brigade. Both my wife and I think it is a complete farce of a day.

Its a day for the "young uns" who are still trying to impress a bird. I'm stuck with my mrs as much as she is lumbered with me, we know that so dont have to show it on a special day, every day is special living with me! why should we spend £50 on flowers that last week were £10 because advertising people tell us to?!

And of course, if you don't buy them, she'll punch you in the face.
Wummin
No means yes except when it means no and it's our job to work out which is which

+2!!

We've planned on putting the kids to bed early, then cooking a nice meal which will be accompanied by a very good bottle of bubbly or vino. No cards; no flowers just a nice relaxing evening safe in the knowledge that we haven't wasted 50 or 60 quid!

I explain to the missus that Valentines Day is for people who actually LOVE each other..... and if she's good to me she might get something next year.

.... year 21 and counting

Fader, that's a beginner's mistake right there ;)

Wife and I swap cards and have a takeaway, we occasionally go out for a meal but we tend to have a fairly quiet night.
