On the downside, public sector pay is shocking and a 2% pay increase is hardly keeping track with spiralling costs (petrol, train fare, food etc)

Yeh! Right!

Only a 2% increase? Oh how my heart bleeds for you. Just a little bit better than the 10/20/30 % paycuts a lot of people have suffered just to keep their jobs over the last year or so. Not to mention those who have lost their jobs and have little prospect in the forseeable future of getting anything suitable.

Public sector? Job for life or if you play your cards right, often a very good payoff. How about gold plated pension rights - or have they now been curbed? If so, about time.

There are a couple of segments in the NHS where the workers are not paid anywhere near enough, and then there are the bureaucrats, the pen pushers, the red tape tiers, and general overpaid dross who are bleeding the service to death without any meaningful added value.

I could go on - but you might start to feel that I have an axe to grind.

Me? Bitter? Never.

Don't get me going on the Civil Service, Religion or politics though

:p
