Should Tiger win the US Open.....

Guess what I could not care less. The U.S. open is a joke at the best of times! Who ever wins.
I don't know If he will beat Jacks record. Someone will one day I guess. Woods is a very good golfer, but not the best there has ever been.(Maybe the best in the life of some forum members). But there are many I would put in front of him from the past, not the distant past either. Though there are many there as well.

I hope he does win. To the people that hate tiger, is it because of what happened in his private life or his golfing ability.

Never quite got my head around this concept of hating someone you've never met or ever likely to do so...

Dislike, maybe, consider them being a knob perhaps...

But hate... Just don't get it ...

Tiger certainly isn't my favourite player and for those who dislike him they are perfectly entitled to (just as I dislike Poulter immensely), but this statement is bizarre. On what level is the US Open a joke? You may not like the difficulty of the layouts but to say it is a joke is to suggest that it is not won by those deserving of it - look at the list of champions. Granted that, at least by reputation, there may have been better players throughout history (Nicklaus, and I imagine that none of us saw much of Jones or Hogan) but who on earth are the 'many' in recent history? My favourite players are (based on when they were at the peak of their powers) Duval and Els, but I couldn't bring myself to say that they were better than Tiger (for 18 months Duval was pretty close). Faldo was great but his record has been blown away by Tiger. Norman was good but obviously lacks the credentials. I am intrigrued who it could be that you are referring to.

I don't really care one way or the other but I do admire the way he's fought back to form this season and got himself back in challenging. He's playing well - wouldn't grudge him the win but a lot of golf still to be played.

think it took way more balls for him to come back into the public eye and keep playing after all the **** that happened....... plus the fact i grew up watching him tear golf tournaments apart so i really hope he gets back to his old ways.... and he is playing with so much control right now its awesome to watch =]

I hope tiger does win and then goes on to beat jacks record. Not because I particularly like tiger but I can't stand jack. I know that's virtually blasphemy for a golf fan to say but the guys a ******.

They were asking him about tiger the other day and he was saying yeah he's done well winning all the majors but he didn't have the rivalries that he had (i.e. palmer, player, Watson etc) and said he's only had Phil who's ONLY won 4! How many people can you insult/disrespect in one sentence?!

It also drives me mad how when anybody wins their first tournament he likes to tell us how he spoke to him before the final round or whatever. It's like he's trying to claim a little of the credit for their victory.

Anyway rant over

i think tiger will win, he seems in the right frame of mind to plot his way round the course and come out on top.

still don't like him though

As a golfing talent, Tiger just stands head and shoulders above anyone in history. No player I can think of has gone through that many swing changes and be competitive and still win.

I would imagine that most people's reasons before it started for him not being able to win was that he was too wild off the tee.

He's 1st in fairways hit so far I read last night.

He's got that fade going a treat and it looks very reliable. Who knows if he'll win, but I wouldn't bet a penny against him.

I think -2 is the winning score.

If he wins tomorrow then he will start to get the psycological advantage back over his rivals.
Alot of them have been looking over their shoulders for the last 9 or 10 months while he has been rebuilding his swing and seeing what he can do when it goes right. I don't think any of them thought it would never return as so many journos told us it wouldn't.
Will he win this US Open? I don't know but he's certainly giving himself every oppertunity to do so.
Will he overhaul Jacks record? Yes he will. He's still only 36 and has 10 years before he gets to the same age as Jacks last major win.
I have never cared what he has done in his "private" life as it's noones business but his own. The papers didn't jump through fire to report on Montys affair, nor did they take up a hundredth of the column inches when Faldo had his fling.
I don't see a problem with him having an arrogent attitude considering he has spent his entire life being moulded into the best golfer of his generation or even of all time. Almost all of the top players in their sports have an arrogence derived from their determination to win and self belief.
I like watching him play when he is playing well, I have no problem with any sports person having hissy fits (didn't we all love McEnroe when he had hissy fits at refs and linesmen over next to nothing?) and I'm sure most of us have had a few in our time too. I know I have and I've witnessed worse than anything Tiger or any other golfer has done on the TV.
I hope he goes on to win this one and many more wns on tour and in the majors.

He is and he's tied 3rd for GIR.

I wasnt a big fan of him but there is a part of me that would like him....For the game anyway at least....
I think that he can and will win this weekend.....
Looking at his play yesterday he was maneuvering the ball around the course like it had a remote control.....It was a joy to watch.....He has found his putting also and that is dangerous given how strong a part of his game that was.....

One thing i do know is that it might be worth his while having a quite word in Rorys ear about how to play when being distracted by a woman
"Oh no you didnt"
