I would have thought Monty would have given this tourney a bash as a last ditched attempt to get into The Open, I'm sure he would have got a sponsors invite should he wanted to play but he's not listed.

He has a lifetime exemption for EPGA events. So he chose to go to USA.

wind isnt going to figure this weekend either, temp will drop to around 14*-15* but with probably no wind or rain the defenses are non existent this week. looks like it will be -21 this year.
Hope the wind picks up for the Open next week.

As Mickelson said it gives him a chance to play the type of shots he will need at the Open without the severe punishment there will be at Muirfield.

He decided to take the week out for practice, he way playing North Berwick yesterday with Jamie Redknapp.

...and he's playing like a chopper this year. By practicing, he'll get more time on the course than he would by playing this and missing the cut

Makes sense, he's really got to get in the pack at these Majors, short game will be key this year and he's got one of the best
