Hi.
I'm thinking of attending the Ladies AIG Open at Royal Porthcawl.
It's about a 240 mile round trip for me & I'm wondering about parking & access to the course?
How bad is it likely to be?
Anyone know?
If it is likely to be horrendous I'll either think about a B & B the night before somewhere close, or not bother.

We’ve gone to the British Seniors the last few times it’s been there and access and parking has been very good. Not sure how much bigger the Women’s Open is in terms of numbers but having been to watch that at Woburn, I guess it’s similar.

I went to it last year at St Andrews and plan to be going all four days this year to RP. The attendances last year were good, but traffic flows in and out of St Andrews we’re fine…I never experienced any issues whatsoever even though access roads to SA aren’t that brilliant. No idea whether access to RP is similar, but I wouldn’t be expecting any serious issued.

There's a few fiddly roads near the course, but not bad. As yet I don't know where the parking or park and ride will be situated.

It's a long day on the course. I'd be staying over somewhere anyway
They’ve got quite a few field round the back of the practice area that are used as car parks, We have always just walked to t( course as it’s not far enough for ‘park and ride’. Quite easy really as they make a few roads one way.

I'm hoping to be getting player guest tickets for all four days (y) 😀

That will be some week for you, I’m sure it will be a fantastic few days

I’m hopeful of going to a day of the Senior Open at Sunningdale

My golf watching is going to be few and far between for the foreseeable but I would like to make the most if/when I can

I had an uncle, aunt and cousin who lived on Lock's Lane. (I still have the cousin - lives near Luton now)

If you want to be cheeky and park on the housing streets, look at Curlew Road and Curlew Close. This will be OK as long as they don't put cones out on these streets.
