Worth starting a thread for anyone to post what's happening, or pics if your there, or just talk about it. I've no access to tv today:(

Should be a bit of a score fest if it stays like this.
Nice to see Howler continuing his better form [cue 8 at the next hole]

No wind at all either, should be ideal for low scores. I'm told there will be a bit of an easterly later, which will help scoring even more as the course is designed with a westerly in mind.

Off for a game at Nairn at 6pm last year Phil played 9 holes, wonder if i'll see him or any others at the links later.

No Casino, in Inverness by the way ;)

18th is getting ripped to bits score-wise

Is it right that even on 1st day that a closing hole should play so easily for a Tour Event?

Today its down wind and downhill and the fairway is rock hard... again its another one of those holes where the wind is usually a westerly a whole diff hole then. Just watched Phil hit drive and 7 iron on the 5th... a few weeks ago when i played the course it was drive, 3 wood 5 iron from my mate who's off 2 into the wind.

Is it a case that the course wasn't designed for these conditions? :D

wind isnt going to figure this weekend either, temp will drop to around 14*-15* but with probably no wind or rain the defenses are non existent this week. looks like it will be -21 this year.
Hope the wind picks up for the Open next week.

There is no such thing as an easy hole on a golf course.
Start thinking like that and the golfing bogart will beat you up.

The stats so far say otherwise though

But I'm only using online scoring info (no TV here) so didn't know about the wind (or lack of) so I guess if that's the normal defense the officials might be limited in how much they can toughen it up

BTW I'm 100% sure it wouldn't play easily for me (even if I had those gutter cushions things from the bowling alley) but then I'm not a tour pro
(I've seen the golfing bogart up close too many times)

HOLY SCHMOLY, just saw Brandon Grace and Paul caseys tee shots on the 306yd 3rd:eek:
Brandon hits hybrid and Casey hits Iron:eek:

stats are oot the windae this week I feel.

There are a lot of very low scores coming in.

I think McDowell may have been right in giving this a miss and playing elsewhere to practice for the Open.

I managed to back 3 golfers (Jaidee, Uihlein and Bourdy) who all started on the afternoon.

Looking at the live blog on the website it seems the morning was the best time to be out today

But my picks arent doing too badly i guess

I know but its still not the most realistic preparation for the Open. How many players are going to goout and shoot -6 or better in the opening round at Muirfield?

From what most of the players interviewed were saying was that its not too punishing off the tee, but allows them to then play the other shots they will need around Muirfield with out getting " beaten up"

True its not the sternest test, but got to be better than some parkland course 7500 yards long.

There's a chance the wind might pick up, but any course with no wind thats exposed and open like most links, you will get low scores.. Muirfield is much tighter off the tee with far more rough.... simples

I would have thought Monty would have given this tourney a bash as a last ditched attempt to get into The Open, I'm sure he would have got a sponsors invite should he wanted to play but he's not listed.
