Scottish Fitba'

No such thing as a walk in the park with this Celtic team. We struggled to beat Auchenleck Talbot ffs.
I found it difficult to measure the quality of the two teams in the Celtic game.
Thought Gogic and the St Mirren left back had superb games in defense.....but were they made to look good because the Celtic attack was poor?
Bringing on James Forrest changed the game.
Celtic keeper was a shocker.

Yes, well done St. J.
Hopefully the support will continue to turn out next season.
I caught a bit of the game. Was surprised that Dunfermline weren’t better after such a gritty display getting to the cup final.

Think the Pars looked more and more leggy and knacked as the game went on…not surprisingly after Saturday. They’d have had to be a bit wary about resting a load of regular starters and fielding a weak team - doesn’t go down well with the League.

And yes…hopefully the support holds up. Good crowd I thought…7,600. As Faddy said, the over 3000 Saints fans there was more than a lot of home crowds over some more recent seasons.

Think it’s Pars 6th game in 3 weeks, Saturday would have taken a lot out of them to be honest.
St Johnstone are worthy winners of the league.

Finally the Scottish press release the SPFL team of the year.

I Hope Milne, one of the fastest players in Europe, goes to the world Cup instead of Tierney who is now past his sell by

Thoroughly enjoyed my Friday trip to Perth for the Raith game and League trophy presentation. A straightforward 2-0 win with Saints playing some of their best football of the season…despite lengthy celebrations Tuesday night Wednesday morning (some all day at the races). But tbh…Raith were surprisingly poor given they still had top 4 to play for.

Anyway…tickets bought for last game of the season next Friday evening, and a wee trip to Somerset Park is in the offing. Quite a round trip from Sheffield…🙄

ETA…great atmosphere in and around the ground - around 8,000 attendance with only a few hundred making the short trip from Kirkcaldy. Lots of enthusiasm for the club…hope it holds up next season in what will be trickier times.

Somerset Park is quite posh these days ;)
Hope you enjoy your visit to sunny Ayrshire

I’ve had a look and yes…their North Stand looks very nice…all covered 800-odd seats along the back with standing terrace still pitch side. My lad decided we should stand in the Railway End as we won’t be doing any standing next season, plus its most likely that the ‘lads’ of Fair City United will be standing there making their usual racket,

And note to other Scottish clubs…they’ll maybe have not noticed that in neither the league clinching victory on Tuesday, nor the trophy presentation last home match on Friday, was there a pitch invasion. Despite our enthusiasm, especially that of the FCU, everyone was very well behaved. Of course having said that I have to watch and not get carried away at Somerset Park 🤣

The big decision is coming up from the M6 whether I cut across from the M74 via Cumnock or Thornhill…I think I know which is a little faster but I know which is probably the prettier…but recommendations welcome. Dont fancy too much going via Dumfries…seems a bit of a roundabout route.

IMO the best route from Gretna is to carry on the A75 to Castle Douglas, join the A713 to Carsphairn, Dalmellington then Ayr.
Whichever route you take from Gretna will be 2 hours but this one gives you one of the most scenic drives in Scotland along Lochs Ken and [my] Doon and the roads are good and very quiet
The A76 I would never describe as scenic and as it is a lot busier, it can make some drivers to take dangerous decisions.

Strapping in for the Hearts v Hibs game now (y) 🆒

Has logic left the minds of football officials. ? Just because the Hibs goalie handled outside the area , the scenario didn’t extrapolate to “denial of goal scoring opportunity “
The goalie could have chested it away, or even headed it away. The alternative to him handling the ball outside the area is not him not being there as a footballer.
A ridiculous sending off, imo.

Didn’t see it. If it was deliberate then rules say straight red

Well, I can accept if the rule says a straight red for” goalie deliberately handling outside the area “ , if there is a specific rule for that , ( don’t agree that there should be such a bald rule but that’s for another day):
but not for “ denying a goal scoring opportunity “ which was reportedly the reason in this case.

Got my hopes up when Hibs had taken the lead. Soon deflated when they went down to 9 men. On the positive side both players will be suspended for the Celtic game next week.
