Scottish Fitba'

And this evening for StJ it’s Airdrie at the Tattie Bogle stadium (aka The Albert Bartlett stadium). After the good and great results against some of the top teams in the league, this one will be a measure of how well they cope playing a decent team who will look to set up to make it difficult to score against them.

Aside…as a kid I thought that Airdrie's big red V on white was a cool kit.
Started brilliantly but faded after 30mins and things dropped significantly after an hour when 3 subs made. But still a win and some lessons are hopefully learnt. StJ second string, though not second rate (Scottish championshi-wise), are indeed 2nd string….

Feel for Martin and Rangers. Lost at home. Bit unlucky to not get a pen and (correct decision) to have someone sent off.
But, they should not be losing at home to a team that ain’t great.
Penalty decision was a cop out by the ref, who was pretty bad overall.

But no getting away from the problem being Martin’s signings coupled with his tactics. Neither good enough.

Meghoma could easily have cost 3 goals first half alone. Chermiti looks like he’s at a loss as to what a football pitch is.

Raskin being back has definitely galvanised their midfield though. Gasama has dropped off a cliff though from early promising form.

Rangers sold 2 reasonable left backs. Bonkers.
Chermitti looked OK, I thought.
Gasamma and Moore are too young and inexperienced.
The young Scottish boys need to be used more.

Why they shipped McCausland out is beyond me, just to bring in Moore with no Scottish game experience.

Felt Chermiti just made the wrong run far too many times. He’s plating for service he’s clearly not getting (not his fault) but then not changing what he’s doing (his fault).

Gassama started the season with a sharp and confident look that seems to have evaporated.

Antman was the same, first game he was great.
On the radio they were talking about players needing to just being allowed to play and not being over coached. That could we be the problem.

Rangers actually looked ok going forward, but at the back, they are absolutely murder, just got carved open with ease, if they played a decent side, it would have been a pumping.

Heard McCoist saying Genk are bang average and 14th in the Belgian League. Has he forgotten Rangers are 11th in the SPL?
He was very down in the post match interview…must be tough being a Rangers fan these days, never mind a Rangers legend (must ask my bro on the former 😘)

Good read about the historical rivalry between Auchinleck Talbot and Cumnock Juniors who play tonight.
Son in law used to play junior football in that area and told me about them and how tough the games are.

They don’t seem to forgive and forget😂

My kids are up in Edinburgh this weekend and planning on spending Saturday afternoon watching Hearts vs Falkirk...
Honest question, what can they expect??

Always a great atmosphere at Tynecastle.
Tell them to go to the Diggers pub. Not the real name but its nickname as it is next to a graveyard.

5 minutes from Tynecastle.

I love Super Ally, was a regular at Ibrox when he was banging in the goals.
But, being a fan of a team is not just about when you are winning.
I’m an Ally fan also, from his days at StJ before his move to Rangers, but also and mostly for his Scotland days and continuing passion for the national team.

A decent game with skill levels that may surprise them.
Tynecastle is one of the greatest UK grounds for atmosphere.
They will enjoy it if they are lucky enough to get tickets. ;)
[13 single seats available at 10 am on ticket exchange]
