Played yesterday in a society meeting. putts were dropping from everywhere hit every fairway from the tee even took the nearest pin prize so won easily by 10 points with a 43 total .
So this morning I teed it up on the 1st with high hopes of finally getting a cut in the club stableford comp.
I had amassed 18 points in the 1st 7 holes then I somehow managed to FOUR putt the 8th for a 7 !!!
After that I struggled to get a run together and limped home with a miserable 34 points .

How can it go from such a high to feeling so low or is that just golf folks ????

ah welcome to golf, after my game collapsed recently ive spent thursday, friday, saturday and sunday on the range tring to get myself back on plane, everything was perfect and i walked off the range sunday morning with good length, ball flight and tight dispersion... started the medal par, bogey, quad bogey bogey bogey bogey bogey bogey... and so on..

Over 300 balls in 4 days with everything perfect then the wheels fell off again... dam game!

miserable 34 points

Maybe for you ;) I would be happy with that, its in the buffer which means I am playing golf to the best of my ability!

It looks like you let the 4 putt get to you, if you can stop that happening, card in hand or not, you handicap will plummit!

I can fully sympathise with that! Had 20 points from the first 8 holes in Saturday's comp....blobbed the 9th, and collected 13 points from the back 9! I felt so frustrated afterwards, especially as css was 35 pts.

Played again yesterday in a bounce game and started off the same...20 points from the opening 8 holes, 3 more on the 9th...and 15 on the back despite the mother of all hail storms messing up the course! Much more solid!

Mid-week medal tonight after work, so I'm wondering what could possibly go wrong...

Know just what you mean. Excellent practice on the range yesterday, 20pts off 3/4 handicap in today's roll-up! Still, if it was easy everyone would do it!

Your last 2 days highlight the fascination of the game you can go from great highs to lows and vice versa from morning to afternoon let alone day to day!

Why don't you all go to the range and learn to hit the ball as hard as you can.
After all, that's what most golfers do on the course. ;)

On Saturday my partner and I won our club Winter League final, played over 7 months and about 10 matches and on Sunday I shot a 92 nett 80 (par 71) now that is the sublime to the ridiculous! Mind you I was knackered mentally after the concentration of the final!
