I met a guy at the range today (Phil) and got chatting as you do.
He is an electrician about 40 and is returning to golf after 20 years away. (kids and women)
He was at a job 2 weeks ago and the house owner had some clubs in the back room. The house owner bought them from new, tried to hit the 7 and quickly gave up so the rest were unused.
He sold the whole lot to Phil so bag, putter, irons, 3 woods and head covers for £20

What a bargain he thought and they are to him.
Below are 2 pictures of my G5 alongside his newly purchased driver

They are Dunlop and have the leather bag and leather head covers and steel shafts throughout.
The amazing thing is they look brand new as they have never been hit.

did you have a hit with them?

I fancy getting an old titleist pt driver or a lynx boom boom driver off ebay, just to have a play with.

I was watching Shells wonderful world of golf the other day. Faldo vs Norman from Sunningdale in 1994. The balls they were playing with seemed larger than the driver heads... scary !

I did give it a go. It took a bit to get it airborne as it only seem to have about 4 degrees of loft.

I can't believe that Bob, a man of your stature & experience should have no problems.

15 years ago you wouldn't have given it a second thought hitting one of those off the deck, out of the semi on a long par 5 ;)

Slightly different technique required with the old Drivers and Balata balls.

Certainly not 'Tee it high. Let it fly!'
