They questioned him mainly on his prior Ryder Cup record from what I saw. (1 win and 7 losses I think it was.) I felt he was simply a better player than the other options (Wallace, Penge) though personally.
It's his past record in the Ryder Cup, it's terrible. You right about his form but if it was between him and someone else, and it was tight, that would have to come into it. Thankfully it looks like he can turn that record around.
In other news, I was beginning to wonder what the 17th hole looked like. I’ll bet the opposition were questioning if they could take a match that far.

They said hospitality tents are exclusively on holes 15-18. You’d be furious if you’d spent thousands of $$$$ and all you get the see is people being driven back to the clubhouse on a buggy

I seem to recall at least one of those RC’s his form had deserted him going into it.
I agree his history in the event isn’t great, but my own personal take is that I’d rather have form going into it than a great record.

There are partisan crowds in all sport. But already the abuse being hurled at the Europeans is becoming really unnecessary. I’m all for banter and a bit of sledging, but some of what we’re hearing has no place at what is, after all, a sporting event.

Problem is the word they were shouting in the states doesn’t mean the same as here it’s not even seen as a swear word! Even the Simpson’s aired in daytime TV saying it because it’s just meaningless to them.
However I agree there’s a difference between sledging and shouting the crap they are when someone’s lining up a putt
