Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

If Bradley and Burns are in, then I think Young misses out, as I can't see them not picking Cantlay.

My pick predictions:
JT, Morikawa, Griffin, Bradley, Cantlay, Burns.
Lowry, Straka, Aberg, Hovland, Fitzpatrick, Rahm.

He's sure to pick Cantlay - they need a boogeyman now that Patrick Reed is out of the picture. I think he'll pick Young over Griffin. We will know this afternoon/evening

Love reading all the crap about this event.....when it is all done and dusted who really cares ?????

Can you honestly remember the results from two events ago ?

Of course you wouldn't care when your nation isn't involved. The rest of us certainly care. For quite a large number of UK golfers, Ryder Cup is the best event in the calendar, even above the majors.

I’ve been lucky enough to attend the PGA at Wentworth! British masters at the Belfry an Open championship at RSG and the Ryder Cup when it was held at Le Golf National. I can categorically say the Ryder cup was a whole other level of Golfing entertainment, sporting rivalry (in golf terms at least), level of play was far higher but to be expected in match play and a lot more up close and personal.

Some of the noise on the greens was class. So my personal preference is much rather watch that again live than any normal tournament or major. Team sport is fun and it brings in something we don’t get much of.

I don’t have any hate-figures in golf really, let’s be honest I’m sure no-one ‘hates’ any pro golfer, but not majorly keen on Bradley..

Having said that I’d like to see him pick himself for two reasons:

- Firstly, I think he deserves it on his play and record this year (also missed out last time, but that’s more a minor consideration…Pro sport is about winning not participation prizes)

- Secondly it will increase media pressure and psych pressure on him, and perhaps take his time off other duties as Captain, so it could probably give Europe an advantage

I think he'll pick himself, but I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves himself out of a few sessions and only plays 2 or 3 matches.

Im not convinced on that second point. Yea it takes him away from certain captain duties but even if he just plays the one session both days, he won’t be missing out on that much and can’t influence the matches on the course other than an odd word of encouragement.

Plus if he plays well and sets a good example by putting points on the board that serves to rev up an already hostile crowd and team USA. It could well be one of the things that helps bring home the RC to the Yanks.

Equally possible he gets turned over in his first match, then does he bench himself or go again to a plan at the expense of a player looking on saying i'm in better form and he's only playing because of being captain. You could also have an injury or out of form player meaning Keegen needs to go into foursomes and that's then going to make afternoon pick selections difficult.

Let's face it, if a team wins a captain is deemed good, so i think the role is oversold a bit but going away from the mould could great a fair few issues.

Yep - remember multiple event results over the decades

Biggest event in golf after the Majors

Guess if your nation isn’t involved it’s hard to get into it

So it’s Thomas , Griffin and Morikawa so far

Edit

Plus Young , Cantlay and Young confirmed Sam Burns by accident 😂😂😂

Think that means he isn’t picking himself

I used to like it but it's over the top now. Things like those stupid Europe bananaman costumes? Really?!
It's basically a Liv event these days
