I’d be surprised if he never picked straka even with recent form not so great, itll all depend what’s in Donald’s plans pairings wise, harry hall’s putting will help his chances of a pick massively

Reasonable thoughts. As a multiple PGAT winner this year alone and top 10 in season standings playing in America, you’d think Straka would be nailed on though. Is he injured? Didn't play between Open and playoffs and even skipped a week of them so schedule does appear light. 2 top 20s in last 4 tournaments isn’t horrendous form. Not sure I’d dump him just because of one bad tournament this week.

Wallace is out of contention. I think Luke told him he won't be in the team after The Belfry. That's what I gleaned from a social media post from Wallace himself that he posted upon arrival in Switzerland for the Crans Montana event. So, to me that strongly indicates that Fitz got the nod. And Rahm of course. That's the team done and dusted. The only exception being if there is something up with Straka and Luke want to replace him. Would love to see Penge on the team but don't see it happening.

At the last RC the US got a bit of a pasting for not playing competitive golf between fedex-cup and a month later in Italy. Anyone know if the core of the US team will do anything different this time round ?

Yes they will all be given an extra $200k on top of the $300k that they get to be given to charity - the extra will be up to the players what they do with it
Schaffle says they will donate that extra money as well which sort of goes against what they were complaining about last time

Yeah, largely agree with that. JT, Morikawa and Griffin should be in. I reckon Bradley deserves a spot - whether he picks himself or not I don't know. Cantlay I would expect to be in, just because he rattles people if nothing else. Harman might miss out due to lack of length on a long course - which could work in Young's favour. I don't know enough about McNealey to be fair - is he just a great putter pretty much? 10th in the rankings so would be harsh on him to miss out.

I agree. I was just thinking out loud of other options he may have.
Spieth is probably much the same.
Their team doesn’t really strike fear the way some US teams have previously and he might try to add a big name to it.

Cantlay will be going in my opinion, there's an argument for the other 4, but I reckon Griffin will miss out.

I said it’d be Burns and reckon he’ll partner Scheffler as apparently they’re good pals.
I think Young misses out purely because Griffins been fairly solid recently.

Thing is if it goes in his favour and he starts sinking puts and winning points the crowd will be absolutely nuts, even more so than they’ll be anyway, can hear the USA chants just now.
The more I think on it Europe wise, although I’d love to see Penge flung in, he’ll definitely go the safe route with Fitzpatrick, back in a bit of form, major winner, near enough same team as Rome etc etc
