This is NOT a thread about which rules you like or dont like.
I am asking which rule/rules you think will be changed in the next edition or the RANDA rule book and why.

1. I think the ball on the putting green moves AFTER address will change to no penalty and ball to be replaced.
The reason is I cant see how grounding the putter behind the ball can help the wind move it.

2.I think they will change the rule about touching water on a backswing as it clearly doesn't improve the area of your swing as would happen if you touched the sand in a bunker for example.

Ps. I hope to avoid replys like "I hate so and so rule coz it's stupid" ..........................Smiffy :D

I'm not so sure that they will change either of those rules y'know... :)

Strangely, off the top of my head, I can't think of any that I would expect them to change.

You dont think it's unfair to take your stance and address the ball in a correct manner to then be penalised for causing the ball to move towards the hole?
I mean, what have you done wrong?

That measuring devices will be allowed at all clubs in competition irrespective of whether the committee want to pass a local rule or not.

I'm not saying it isn't unfair, I just don't think they will change the rule. I think they SHOULD, I just think they won't.

I think they may. Earlier in the year when Jezz interviewed Peter Dawson it was mentioned as one of the rules they were looking at. It is one of the more unfair rules so I think they will change it.

I've never understood your, or anyone elses, problem with this one, Murph.

The hazard is there, you put your ball in it, your problem to get it out. If it is in standing water you can play it where it lies or drop it elsewhere in the hazard in accordance with the rules without penalty. The only time I can remember seeing a bunker completely flooded was when walking back to the clubhouse when the course was closed due to severe flooding.) There is usually somewhere that may not be flooded, OK wet maybe, but not under water.

If you want to exercise your option of declaring the ball unplayable and therefore dropping outside the bunker (or replaying, why should you not be penalised?

I can see it now. Just like the divot arguement. So open to abuse. "Oh dear. It's just rained and the sand is wet. Oh look. It's all wet. I'll take a free drop outside the bunker, ta very much."

Take your medicine like a man and move on ;) ;)

any rule changes will only be as a result of 'lobbying' within the pro game. I think they are blind to what we put up with, eg stones in bunkers - a hazard in themselves.

for that reason, and especially after The Open, I think ball moving on the green will be one; whether they extend this to the tee is debatable.

if changes are made on the number of recorded incidents, then I can't see them changing 'touching the water', whether or not they should, as it just doesn't occur that often.

what they should do is address pace of play, but they won't.

nor will there be any change to 'distance measuring devices'; it's far too easy to pass off any arguments to local committees.

the other one, which seems to me to be a bit on the dodgy side, is being able to put a ball in play (albeit under penalty) when you don't want a poor shot found; just play another without declaring it provisional.

Even if they changed that, you could still play the provisional, go find your ball, declare it unplayable and walk back to the tee to play 3.

Same outcome just takes 15 minutes longer.

Definitely agree about the ball moving. Think Padraig would agree too. Not sure they want to get involved in DMD's unless forced to (think FIFA and goalline technology) and doubt very much they will look at flooded bunkers. As it is already a minefield in competitions I could do without too many amendments to have to worry about
