France v Wales.
‘Nuff said.
The favourites to win the league vs the favourites to come last.
Odds shortened a wee bit on both since the game.
Unsurprising result.

NB. No points were scored from penalty kicks. Tries and conversions only. A fairly entertaining game of rugby to watch. Bit one-sided though 🥹

One for the League fans:

Last night I watched a bit of the World Club Challenge and underneath the scores on the TV, there was a 'C' for each team - similar to where the red card symbol is in football. What was this for? One of the Brisbane players was off for a concussion check but can't have been this as both teams had a 'C'.

It's to show that the team has a captain's challenge left.

I am West of the river and support the Black and Whites, but I will admit to supporting the Robins last night. Around 6 of the Robins team are members of our golf club and whilst they generally don’t enter comps, but play in their own group, I have met and played with a couple of them. All, as you’d expect, are pleasant guys.
Definitely a game if two halves with KR dominating the first half and then Brisbane doing what they are famous for and coming back from the dead. The anxiety of the Hull crowd was palpable in the last 15 minutes.

Downside is that I’ve had to pull out of tomorrow’s competition through injury, upside is a great afternoon of 6 Nations to watch on tv.

Rhys Walsh’s new shorter haircut reminded me of dumb and dumber 😆.

Should be a great day tomorrow. Good 6 nations contests and Toulouse first home match in SL where I quite fancy them to get another result.

Just turned on the rugby - well…

Though my first thought was on the commentator…my head said Eddie Butler…then of course I instantly remembered…didn’t realise until that moment that I miss his dulcet and most knowledgable tones.

Watched the game in a pub so no commentary to help out. England seemed to learn nothing from last week, same mistakes.

There was also a great stat in the first half about times visited the opposing 22 and points scored. England were there a lot, came away with nothing, Ireland were there occasionally and came away with plenty. Those stats tell a story.

A sobering 6 nations for Borthwick.

To me, and must admit I am no expert, it seemed like England were trying to force it too much, always looking for the extra pass or offload and not just getting to the floor and recycling the ball. If the fancy game isn’t working, just go back to basics and do the hard yards.

Even As a proud English man, to me there is no better sound in sport than the Welsh national anthem being sung by the Welsh crowd at home before the start of a rugby match. Watching it on the tv and not live I get the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

My thoughts....
The Irish wanted it more and played better overall.
Ford is too slow. Marcus Smith should have come on for Ford, he isn't a fullback now or ever.
Tackling was too weak.
Line out and scrums appaling today.
The English turned the ball over too much and gave away too many pens.
Last week Arundell was yellow carded for colliding with the Scot in the air and told he should have been watching. This week, the ref ignores the Irish doing the same.
Tad Furlong fore arm smash in the clearout on Curry. No action taken. Lawrence gets a no arms tackle against him...nothing done.
