Watching the golf and that young man has the bit between his teeth again. He makes it look so easy when he's on song.

He'll be a great ambassador for Nike if he keeps this form up!

i have aswell....

there was no mention of it last night so maybe this morning....

Its just an industry rumour at present that Rors will be Nike's big signing for next season! Lets just watch and see.................

ah i see,i just seen a pic and he was still sporting an oakley belt......i was deifnately scratching my head wondering what was going on.

i knew he would start off well after reading that article last night,i said that in the other thread.

Would be a nice wee commission for Horizon if they seal that deal. Plus Oakley kit is pretty ugly. I love how he has to wear Oakleys on the back of his head. I'd wear Dame Edna glasses if I was getting paid the same

On the golf front, he tweeted the other day that HK was one of his faves - not surprised he nailed it on day one

Odds on a Masters & Open double for the wee man next year ??

Of all the golfers I've watched over the years since Tiger dominated the game, Rory is right up there with the best. He has the potential to be one of the greats I feel. My only worry is that he'll burn out and lose interest.

wise words Bob, there have been quite a few 'potential stars' over the last 20 years, only a select few can stand the pace or even enjoy the pace, can McIlroy stand it or will the combination of a young kid becoming a millionaire overnight prove a big distraction with all that planet Earth has to offer? only time will tell but I hope he seeks and is given good council and doesn't forget his roots.

That's my worry.
He'll go to the states and build a house near Casey, Donald, Poulter, Rose, Gmac etc and get comfy. Settle for a few top 10s or 5s and a few million a year from sponsors.
Fair play if thats what tickles his pickle but it would be a waste I feel.

Feel the same way Bob and hope it does not happen to him. I think Luke Donald was the perfect example happy to be raking in the cash but titles seemed to mean nothing to him that attitude seems to have changed a bit but i still think he won't win a major.
Have a feeling if Rory won a masters and Open he could go sure i have done it all and quickly loose interest although if he dose win a couple of majors next year it may send him the other way and he may have the motivation to go after Jack's record.
Thing is with him at the moment he is keep the schedule to a min and it seems to be paying off even when he is playing average he is still finishing top 10. He will be No. 1 this time next year.

Rory won't get close to matching Tiger never mind overtaking the Golden Bear.

Couldn't agree more Bob - hope he doesn't end up going the same way as Sergio (it's been great seeing El Nino playing some cracking golf over the last couple of months and looking the player of old). My only worry with Rory is that all the changes in his personal and professional life (new superstar girlfriend, change of management companies, rumoured equipment manufacturer switch etc) will have an adverse affect on him. Really hope not as he is a joy to watch on the course, and always conducts himself really well off it.Re. the switch to Nike, Oakley must be pretty miffed - didn't he only sign the deal this year to wear their clothing?

Wierd but it sounds like such a mediocre existence when it's put like that.... we'd all take that TOMORROW! :)

Luke must be feeling confident, he and most of the Euro big guns are playing Sun City in South Africa rather than top up their Order of Merit figures in Hong Kong.

What's first place worth in Hong Kong?

Hopefully like everyone has said, he doesn't let his great start to his career go to his head. He is still so young and can achieve so much

This is interesting as thought it would be only a matter of time before he changed brands. I wonder if the potential deal would involve a change of clubs too?

I think Nike are the real winners there. A true global ambassador to replace Woods as the recognisable face of their golf range. I do think he has had a lot of success very young including that major. Will it spur him on.I don't think he'll get close to Woods or Nicklaus ad how long does he want to keep playing, travelling and competing. Will it be all over by 30 or will he be happy to turn up get paid and go back to a luxury pad somewhere warm in the world with a stunning lady on his arm. Tough choices!
