Rome

Sometime soon we will be dropped at Rome airport early for a much later flight home. We're thinking if dumping our luggage in left luggage and spending a few hours in Rome. Just wondered if anyone has done this and the best, reasonable cost, way to travel back and forth so we dont miss our flight.

Which Rome airport? We've done it, and got a taxi out to the airport(Fiumicino) out next to the sea. It wasn't that expensive. Not sure about the one to the south, Ciampino.

Us too, I was there when the Pope was laying in state and got in to see him hours before the funeral
