Robert rock....what a top man

Didn't see it. So does his caddy still lie on the green to line him up for every putt outside 2 feet?!

No, that doesn't happen any more.

He played pretty well. Brought it home, which is always difficult.

Interesting that he thought tiger was good company to play with, and clearly tiger was happy for him when he won, but all we got off the telly was tiger scowling and banging clubs off th ground. Rr saw it differently, clearly.

Think RObert had the benefit of some advice in the past from our very own Smiffy and you could see him on the 18th say to his caddy WWSD (what would Smiffy do).

Smiffy would have played the second shot from the hazard, straddling the huge boulder, with a cactus up his aris. Quick shank into the water, and a lot of expletives as he pulled the pricks out of his strides.:o

You know today has been a kick start to my golfing year. I played really well today in VERY cold conditions and got alot out of that, and watching RR really got my golfing MOJO going.

I have SKY+ the highlights which i never do and am going to keep them for a bit to watch them back later in the year. I find watching classy golf does wonders for my own game.

Have been out for a curry tonight and came back to read the comments. Some great thoughts from you all. nice to see RR's win has pleased so many others.

Have not been on the forum for a while as had got a bit jaded with golf. Really looking forward to the season now....Got MAIL on SUNDAY next week. bring it on

Great win from Rocky, he seems a genuine humble guy and did well to hold off the pressure from Tiger.

Maybe Rory will go and read the rulebook again, the 2 shot penalty in the 2nd round cost him badly.

Outside bet for a Ryder Cup place?

If he's got the jacobs and the talent to see off a resurgent Tiger down the stretch then I'd be happy to see him in the team.

I'm very pleased for him to win this, he's always seemed like a decent bloke and I'm chuffed he doesn't get his caddie to line up his putts any more :D

Well pleased for him and he played very well, would have been easy for someone with his experience to fold and shoot a high number and then go 'oh well'.

I hope he carries on with his good form and makes a bid for the ryder cup, there are definitley going to be some big names missing out this year.

Couldn't be happier for him especially as he's a member at my club, the clubhouse all started applauding when he sunk the last put. Wonder if he'll get the beers in now ?

Hi Gazp

Is the club at the bottom of your post where he is a member??

And where is the driving range he owns?

Do you know?

Outstanding golf from Rob. Always thought he comes across as a bit of a bore when watching him on the course, but I've changed my attitude after hearing his interviews the past few days. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

don't like his swing much though.

His win was great to see and especially from such a humble personality. You could see he was genuinely chuffed with the victory overall. His play was very solid and I think his swing is one of the more technically sound. This could well open the door for a few more victories for Rocky.

Yes, he's been a member at Ingestre Park for many years, his career has been a slow progression I think his name is only on one of the major competition boards from 1995. His old caddy was our assistant Pro but he now caddies for Steve Webster. The driving range he owns is Swingers Driving Range in Lichfield. We don't see him on the course at Ingestre much nowadays but he can be seen on the practice range now & again.
