Was unable to attend today due to work commitments in Devon - have finished for the day now so will be looking for a quiet spot to have a moment to remember a great guy and who will never be forgotten by many people

RIP Rick - don't give them the putt up there

We all know this is never going to happen!

Hope today "went well" for those that were able to attend. I was caught on the phone all afternoon, so haven't had a chance to reflect and remember one of the best blokes I've ever had the pleasure of knowing... but I'll raise a glass to him later.

I went and there was a very good turnout. Standing room only at the back and in the upstairs gallery. The civil service was very good.

Good on you Derek , I was at home looking after my 2 year daughter and he was on my mine as I recalled the times I spent with him , Glad there was a good turn out for him , RIP RG , in golf you was a 5 or 6 handicap golfer but in life and helping others you was plus handicap ...............EYG

Didnt see you there Del, There were quite a few of us, should have come and said hello.

It was a truly poignant, moving, emotional celebration of a life well lived, but cut short far too soon
We all had tears in our eyes and lumps in our throats, feel privileged to have known him .

The Forum featured quite a lot in the ceremony, Rich said a nice piece about H4H and Ricks Sister read out a couple of the tributes left on these pages.

Lets make the forthcoming H4H the biggest and best ever .

Problem is I don't know what most of you look like in real life! I was at the Crematorium and the Centurion Golf Club. My first look at that course. It looks a bit bleak and modern, with the obligatory lake. I was hoping for an invite there by Rick at some point (he had played at my club), but unfortunately that can't happen now.

Disappointed I couldnt make it, had half hour out to think of all the good times Ive shared with Rick. Glad he was given the send off he deserved.

Managed to slip into the filing room (not salubrious) for a few minutes to sit quietly and reflect. How fickle and cruel life can be. Hope Rick had the send off he deserved and that his memory shines bright amongst us all for a long time to come

The wife and I have raised a glass for Rick tonight.

I told her about what happened and good times we had on the few occasions I met him and she noticed it was on my mind.

Cheers for the good times Rick. Enjoy the greens up there!

Just got home. Very proud to be asked to say a few words at the celebration of life.

I very nearly got through it, but as a forum friend said if I cock up don't worry as Rick will have a good laugh.

A lovely send off for a good friend to so many of us.

Knew you'd manage it mate, top job :)

Glad to hear he got the send off he deserved.

It was a sad but lovely send off for our good fiend who will never be forgotten. The service was packed and everyone had the same message - it is hard to think of anyone as universally liked, admired and respected as Rick, who always had a smile and never a bad word about anyone. I am raising several glasses to you tonight .

RIP a very special person

It was a fitting tribute to Rick. There were some tears but there was laughter as well, and I found I had something in common with him that I never realised. Speaking to Rick's brother afterwards, it struck me that of all the people I've met in this life, Rick was one of only 3 of whom I can honestly say I've never heard a bad word said, which to me is a mark of just what a great guy he was. RIP Rick.

That is one of the reoccurring themes from all the posts about him BIM - what a great testament to be said about a person and, of course, in Ricks case it's thoroughly true

Excellent service with so many fitting and touching tributes spanning all of Rick's life right back to his childhood, there wasn't a tribute that didn't have something that made us all laugh and think of him immediately and think, "yep, that's Rick".

When looking at the list of songs that were going to be played in between the speeches and tributes, I didn't think anything of them, but when you listen to the words in the context of where you are and why, they broke me.

It was a privilege to meet Rick's sister, Penny, and when she read part of my post out I was a mess again. If your reading this Penny, I'm sorry I was a little lost for words when you came back over to me to say you were going, at times I could see everyone's lips moving but I was oblivious and in my own little world, I wish you and all your family all the very best in the future x.

It was nice to see fellow forumites in attendance along with the Mid-Am boys and James from Help for Heroes, I hope that anyone who was sitting on the fence for the H4H's day in October will now make an extra effort to attend and make it a special occasion for Rick and his legacy.

Can't say much more than what has already been said.
I wasn't surprised by the turnout, just cemented what we already knew about him. That he was a top bloke, loved by everyone he met.
The stories made me sad but also happy, especially the story from his daughter Jodie where he went to get a loaf of bread from Tesco and came back with an HD TV!
Typical Rick.

It was nice to put a couple of faces to the names from the forum and I will be trying hard to move my shift pattern around to make the H4H golf day this year.

Rick, you were an inspirational man and I learnt a lot from you in the short 3 years we knew each other. I will take your values and the things I learnt from you into my forthcoming years. I will make you proud

Love that, so typical of the man.

He will be sorely missed, just wish I could have got the day off yesterday to attend.

Agree on the H4H day, lets make it a good one.

It was impossible for me to get the day off to attend with other work commitments, but I spent a fair old part of the day thinking about what was happening, and spent a quiet moment just saying a few words to him.
He was a great guy, I loved playing golf with him, and could listen to his stories all day.
Cheerio Rick. We'll remember you for a long, long time mate.

I was gutted to miss yesterday but Rick was on my mind all day and I don't think I've smiled as much.

Recalling moments between us I'd just start laughing, we always had a laugh and that's how I'll always remember him.

Playing Carnoustie with him and his inability to chip, he used his chipper and put it straight in the bunker, I was on the floor laughing and his face was a picture.

Great fella who'll be sorely missed.

RIP mate.
