Played a summer ko singles last night, 10 shots to give away on a lovely evening for golf.

Straight out the gate I'm 2 down by going double, single on 2 of his shot holes. The next 13 holes I find my game and play them in l over par, but still climb on board the 15th tee 2 down!!!

My oppo just played beautifully, holed longish putts, 2 sandy saves, chipped and putted like a demon!! Because of the hard firey ground he was able to get up on the loger par 4s so it was hard to get an advantage.

Don't know whether it was pressure or fatigue on his behalf but the last 3 holes kind of caught up on him, saying that I still had to finish par, birdie, par to shake him off 1 up.

Great evening, also nice to see someone so happy with their play despite eventually losing. Shows the beauty of matchplay when it releases some of the shackles we feel whilst scoring with our own ball.

Well done for not giving up. Sounds like a cracking match!

Nice to see someone praising their opponents good play too, without automatically reaching for the 'b' word.

That's why he gets all the shots, sooner or later they'll let you in (and I'm in his category too) by losing a couple of silly shots here and there if you keep the pressure on.

Good luck in the next round :)

Thats a result. I was 2 down after 2 last week too, giving away 8shots.
Then I was 4,....5,....and 6 down after 9.

The Coup de Grace was on the 12th, with an 8&6 defeat .

I went home knowing I hadnt played my best, but after counting his shots, realised he was +6 Gross after 12 holes, off 18 HC.

he said he'd just 'played really well'...........yeh,....right.
