Mr Donald showing the young pretender how its done. Donald hasn't got the length but boy does he have the heart, head and maturity to confirm his World Number 1 status is deserved.

Rory is an awesome talent and I'd be shocked if he doesn't become number 1 in his career but Donald in my opinion is the better golfer at present. Great viewing all the same.

Better with each round.

He is for me the true number 1 at the moment......looks like at least another top ten for him which is awesome golf.

As I thought it looks like the youngster has ran out of steam, looks like that 1 week travel odyssey has finally caught up with him...bet you we see him change his schedule in coming seasons!

He's 22, I could play 3 hrs of squash, footy in the afternoon then out with the lads all night! He's just having an off day like everyone can.

Absolutely loving Luke's rhythm and pure striking. Class. Wish I liked that Xg #7 as he's a wizard with it.

If ever there was a round of golf that showed how to manage your way round and compile a good score when it was really necessary, that was it.

Great play today. A nice steady round tomorrow and Luke Donald will enter the record books.

I think Rory's problem this week has been that he has had to "go for it" from the start.
No messing about coming 3rd - he has to win.
And knowing that and then doing it are not easy in the company of the top 60 in Europe........

i love how rory say's he's tired when he's more than likely been for a 5k run in the morning!!!

he brought it back a little in the back 9 and finished with a 71.not bad going given how terrible he played on the front 9.

but too much to do now,i think it's good that luke is doing aswell as he is because it means that in the end up it didn't matter where rory finished, even though it would be good for a close finish and for rory to come out all guns blazing tomorrow.

It just goes to show why you dont have to be a major winner to be no1.
Consistency is something all us ameteurs are striving for,Luke is doing it
week in week out, against the best the world has to offer.
Is Rory really going to replace Luke or Tiger as number 1 in the near future,
i doubt it,not in the near future.
To win the most money on both tours is just an amazing feat, reward for an amazing year.
Long may it continue.

No wishing to belittle Luke's achievements these last couple of years but is the money list thing really that great an achievement. It will be the first time a member of both tours has done it, but its not the first time it has been done. Surely doing it when NOT being a member on both tours is tougher, as you had less events to do it.

Anyway well done Luke.

one of the commentators the other day made the point that you very rarely see Luke 2 or 3 ahead after day 1. He seems to grow with the tournament and has a very good appreciation of where the finish line is.

Rory could learn a lot from that, as could just about everyone else

1 commentator said "Luke plays each hole like its a 72 hole tournament" wise perception and prob spot on

Given that Rory is sponsored by the company who own the course I have to say I expected a little more from him, given he must have previous knowledge of the course.

Now Luke, he is every bit of proof you need that short game builds decent cards, fair play!

Saw something on the teletext that Rory is suffering from dengue fever, whatever that is. Not a bad effort considering...

Dengue fever is caused by one of four different but related viruses. It is spread by the bite of mosquitoes, most commonly the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which is found in tropic and subtropic regions. This includes parts of:
  • Indonesian archipelago into northeastern Australia
  • South and Central America
  • Southeast Asia
  • Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Some parts of the Caribbean
Dengue fever is being seen more often in world travelers

I think Donald has shown why he is justifiably #1 at the moment. Rory really was on a hiding to nothing having to win anyway. Looks like the bug he has been suffering with (didn't know it was dengue) has taken a bot out of him now and I bet he can't wait for it to finish tomorrow so he can get home for some R&R and no doubt some treatment.

Donald is not a front runner but it isn't where you start but where you finish and he certainly know how to finish. It'l be a great achievement to win on both sides of the Atlantic and lets not forget he's done it without lifting a major. A testament to consistency and hard work
